It was a bad thing even if none of them re-offended.
You think people who can't admit that Trump is asleep all the time would admit that pardoning his lynch mob was a bad idea?
I don't consider myself, right wing, more of a moderate, but rather than just leave you hanging, think nobody cares..I' ll give you a response.
I don't agree with any blanket pardons, here or otherwise. In this particular case, it seems To me that there were some folks who did simply walk into the capitol, some even escorted in by policies and these should have reviewed one by one. But others, the ringleaders, the aggressive ones pushing/beating the police, these latter criminals should have served their sentence - no pardon. If you break the law you should be charged, tried and sentenced,
Can we please stop with the cherry-picked misinformation about simply walking into the Capitol and especially the fake claim that they were invited in or escorted? You're missing the context that the police were overwhelmed and began to use de-escalating tactics. A couple backed away from the doors instead of fighting the bloodthirsty mob and during the supposed "escort." the officers were walking alongside rioters urging them to leave the building.
Regardless, walking into the Capitol when it was closed to the public was a federal crime, not to be mistaken for sightseeing and if you're stupid enough to believe Trump's belligerent stolen election claims and you drive to DC to Stop the Steal, you deserve to spend hard prison time as a deterrent to future hillbillies who want to do the same. No mercy.
A least it was not for molesting kids like most of them are getting nabbed for.
Those who simply walked into the Capitol were appropriately charged and, where time allowed, convicted or pleaded guilty.

I don't disagree with your statement about federal crime..but to me the punishment should fit the crime. And, in my mind, and in the mind of many others, walking into a closed capitol building is different than attacking and beating police. You disagree, that's OK

Also, there is a fuggin riot going on outside-on the day of election certification no less-maybe they should have known better than to take a little “tour”. 95% of all presidential pardons are a joke- in this case it is probably more like 99%, pushing 100%. I would think, well hope, only the farrrr right lunatics disagree with this; but who knows these days.

So you think that people who climbed through a broken window and walked around in the capital deserved a pardon as long as they just “walked around”? So if someone breaks into your house and I see it, I am free to come in and “walk around” with impunity? Trespassing is so 2019.

let's revisit the thread for a second...the original thought was the question should there be blanket pardons...I said No. I also said not everybody was pushing through police and climbing through windows..I specifically saw videos where capitol police were removing barriers to let people in, and there even a video of police "escorting" some of the protesters as far as the Senate floor. Dpic tells me none of that is accurate..OK, then the films I saw were faked...
So, I said that there should be a difference in my opinion between a rioter beating their way into the capitol and one who walked through another door..the capitol is a big place, lots of entrances, in the presence of the capitol police.
Let's not be holier than thou on the granting of pardons....past presidents have pardoned people with far greater crimes.
And as I said, you don't agree, that's fine...you won't hurt my feelings.
There are not many crimes greater than directly attacking our government and trying to overthrow an election.
But maybe that is just me.
