It is already bad enough with the ease and accessibility of gambling. All these ads and it is on people's phones like two clicks and you've blown a grand. I wonder how many people have a gambling addiction because you can do it so easily?

Now we are sending the message that gambling on the team you play for is okay. So many bad messages; like making the allure of gambling more attractive and less risky while at the same time instilling absolutely no accountability with these athletes.

It was a district judge in Texas who ruled against the NCAA's desire to ban Sorsby. The judge is allegedly a TTU alum. The appeal requested by the NCAA was set by the court for February 2027. An absurd situation.

I'm sure he had some level of addiction if he was betting on stuff that he wasn't allowed to bet on, using other people to help him get his action and hide his tracks, etc. But he stopped gambling on his team once he had an opportunity to play, gambled very small amounts of money, didn't lose more than he could afford to lose, never conspired to fix a game, etc. What he did was wrong...but it's also a far cry from those working with the mob to throw games for 5 or 6 figures.

I largely agree but if he was able to stop gambling on his team that tells me it wasn't an addiction

Just because I'm a stickler for sticking to the facts...the judge was not a Texas tech alum. A Texas Tech alum was scheduled to hear the case, but stepped out of it for the new judge to take over.

Thus, I stated "alledgedly". I was not aware of his stepping away from the case.

"Mistakes have consequences"......but we will ignore those consequences and spew a bunch of we care so much for Brendan and want to help him with his addiction, blah, blag, blah.

What consequences is he facing? An irrelevant suspension for two games against nobodies? Software installed on his phone so he can't gamble? Somebody grow some and set some real consequences like ineligible to play college football again.

Sorsby didn’t make a mistake - that would be betting one time and mot doing it again - this was a pattern repeated iver and iver again and he knew what the consequences should have been so he get’s off with no penalty for all i intensive purposes and college football falls deeper in to the septic tank with the aid of the people whio are supposed to care about its integrity.

Glad the Big 12 called the bluff of those blowhards at Tech and in the AG’s office. If Paxton in particular pursues this further, it’s a huge waste of taxpayer money.

The conference should be well within its right to enforce standard conference rules - there’s nothing capricious about this. Hope they bury Tech

It would have been wonderful theater to see it all continue, but I am happy the Big12 had the balls to do the right thing. It seems like TxTech had intestinal issues staring down the barrel of that legal gun today.
