i am such a huge, huge fan of Ms. Grace ... my heart broke a little bit, to hear her own up to being compelled to pull for TX, if our Tar Heels EVER play each other in football ... 😒😒

i respect her loyalty and for the reason she gives ... but it did hurt my heart

so glad she chose UNC for her academic journalistic pursuits and grateful for her time here with IC and us

Love Grace’s answer and totally relate. It’s why I’m a Tar Heel. Super Saturdays as a kid in the 80’s and seeing Surhoff, Bankhead then going to the spring football game. Watching LT, Famous Amos, Kelvin Bryant, play maybe once a year on a Raycom broadcast but listening to most all the others on the radio with Woody. Then playing inspired backyard football with my buddies. And of course watching Mike Jordan, Perkins, and Big Game James on the hardwood. Those loyalties never fade.

Realized that I had a big grin on my face after watching this. Grace’s straight up happiness and excitement about going to Omaha with the Diamond Heels puts her right there with all the baseball geeks I’ve known (and as one myself, I’ve known a few). Tommy’s willingness to just turn her loose and let her roll is refreshing to see. I’d say if Grace ever wanted to interview with D-1 Baseball or Baseball America, this podcast would be as effective a visual resume as anybody could offer.

It’s one of the finest pairings of a developing talent with a willing mentor that I’ve seen in a long time. I really appreciate what they’ve given Tar Heel baseball fans these last few seasons.

And hopefully there’s several games more to come…

Thank you, this made me smile. Tommy is the best mentor I could ask for.
