Gonna be great to be in person and almost at field level this Sunday for The Netherlands and Japan at "Dallas" Stadium. Same premise that none of those players will have likely played in a packed stadium that large in their careers.

And, Murica^2 = $30 nachos

The World Cup stories have been cool so far. Spain national team is staying in Chattanooga. Austria is staying at the Ritz in Santa Barbara. Algeria is staying in Lawrence, Kansas. Plus thousands of visitors driving across the country seeing what America is actually like

Auburn’s stadium is probably in the top 5 biggest stadiums Messi has ever played in. Crazy to think about.
When you realize that in Europe countries smaller than Texas have 20 top flight teams (and up to 100 total professional teams) it makes sense.

It’s always interesting to see or hear from people that come to the US for the first time and do something like a cross country trip.

About 10 years ago during harvest a young couple from Germany stopped by and he rode the combine with me. He farmed over there with his family. I asked him what he liked in his travels so far. “Everything.” They were blown away by everything they had seen and experienced so far and basically said that the stigma portrayed by word of mouth and the European media to make America look like a terrible place were so overblown.

I think London by itself has 11 different clubs in the top two leagues of English soccer. And it’s a big deal here to have 2 teams in LA or New York for a sport.

In all seriousness, I'm sure it didn't cross your mind, but did you you exchange information? In my head it would be fascinating to have a pen pal abroad, especially with a shared interest (farming).

Yeah. There was a poster who posted a freedom index that showed USA is less free than most of Western Europe. That’s a joke. Things we take for granted here are unheard of there. When Prince harry moved to the USA he couldn’t believe we have freedom of speech & thought it was absurd. The USA is freaking nirvana compared to the rest of the world.

Also Messi moving to Miami and being able to grocery shop with his family without being harassed was mind blowing for the rest of the world

America inside and outside major cities are way different places. Same can be said in most countries.

Did they mention how big it is? That's the thing that always amazes me. When I've been there, people have been simultaneously shocked at how little americans travel and also how willing we are to travel six hours each way to see somewhere cool for a weekend or long weekend. I don't know what their maps look like over there, but they seem to be genuinely shocked at how much bigger the US is than western europe and how difficult it is for most americans to travel outside of the country.

I sold a Carhart jacket on eBay to a Harley Davidson owner in Norway, he wanted it to use to ride his bike. He started out just asking questions about the jacket via email, and it progressed that year to getting a Christmas card from him. My grandmothers family emigrated from Norway and I asked him if he would translate a Christening document for me that was printed and written in Norwegian. Still hear from him occasionally but not as often as we did for awhile. He'll somehow get news about MS, or MSU and write me or he'll have a question about something. It's been neat to get to know him

I was at the game. Announced attendance was more than 88,000. Everybody was there to see Messi, and the loudest cheers when he was shown on the video board. He entered the game in the 70th minute, and within 30 seconds of him entering, he played a ridiculous pass to a teammate that sent him in a one on one with the GK. The keeper fouled him to give away a penalty kick. Messi than took the penalty and scored. The place went crazy. My daughter wanted to go to a WC game, and since I can’t drop $1K for a ticket, this was the next best thing to get to see Messi play, even if it was just for 20 minutes.

It's really not that much bigger than Europe. It IS way bigger than any single country other than Russia though. You go to Britain and you have big cities like Liverpool and Manchester that are 20 miles apart. I remember the first time I went I wanted to get out of London to go to Wiltshire. I was looking at the map and it was half way across the country, no way right? Then I realized it was only an hour and a half away. When they come over here it's the exact opposite. It's possible to do LA and San Fran the same day surely?

That's why I said Western Europe. Most people I talked to in Britain had been all over western europe but not really eastern europe, or if they have, it's like one or two of Poland, Hungary. And they do those trips with multiple week vacations, not long weekends or at most a one week vacation like we would do traveling an equivalent distance within the US.

Don’t worry, we’ll find something to argue about.
I’ll try to get us started:
I hear the Netherlands wears orange because they are paying homage to Trump, the greatest world leader of all time, according to them.
Nobody's ever seen anything like it before. It's hugely.

The socialist, commies and marxists aren't happy because everyone should get to wear orange and Trump and the evil Billionaires should pay for it. Where is the riot funding and choreographed singing and sign making? As always they/thems, he, she, its or whatever keep it peaceful.

Dems are too busy getting Platner across the finish line. Republicans are still trying to figure out how their own members tanked an 80% supported issue of voter ID or how a Senate seat is now up for grabs in Texas.....Texas.

We have some real winners in DC. It's reassuring that we can always trust the government to do the right thing**** I mean can we let the government control more? Maybe these Socialist, commie Marxist have it all figured out. Just plan our lives for us we are too fragile..... on the road to idiocracy with the pedal to the metal. There that should help.

I was there with my boys too. That dude was amazing in traffic; it looked like the ball was stuck to his foot. Greatness just looks different.

I love to hate on Auburn, but that looks like a really impressive event. They are getting a ton of good publicity off this.

The "Freddy" account on X that posted this video is a pretty good follow. His account has blown up over the last few days.

my son went with a friend and his parents. they said Auburn was not prepared and that parking/traffic was an absolute nightmare. it took them until 430AM to get back to the coast. still, my son couldn't stop talking about watching Messi. he'll get to tell his grandkids he saw Messi play (and score) for Argentina.

Messi was the best at one time. If he still was great he wouldn't be playing his club ball in the US.
