At the same time what data is there that shows more college scouts go to Naz games over Lyons games?95% but with what data?
Hey, if you got something to say then just say it, don't be vague and mysterious about it.Ahhh the condescending response from you...love those.
It's been talked about before. It's Hersey.Hey, if you got something to say then just say it, don't be vague and mysterious about it.
Which is sad. College football has always been my favorite sport and I'm hanging on by a thread with the way things are these days, but someone needs to intervene with HS kids and parents to reel the vast majority of them in.Edgy hit it on the head pretty good with his travel ball comment.
Yep, this is far more than a generational "back in my day..." difference. When high school kids are seeking out NIL opportunities and some programs get multiple successive transfers into the same position, and there are no more rules or teeth for the IHSA to regulate any of it, it is really very hard to stay a fan of any of what was previously the last pure form of sport.Which is sad. Everyone is chasing the money, but someone needs to be honest with most of these kids and parents and let them know little Timmy isn't a $1 mil athlete and staying at his home HS is more beneficial than transferring multiple times.
All of this and the fact that NIL is legal in Illinois for HS. I've asked before, but are these kids transferring because tuition is being covered? Are they getting rent paid for to be in a different district?Yep, this is far more than a generational "back in my day..." difference. College sports may have just had the death knell yesterday when the NCAA lost the few remaining teeth it had. When a kid admittedly gambles on his own college team, the NCAA suspends, and then the court system comes in and says that the NCAA can't suspend, what in the world are we actually rooting for here? A sport with no governance, rules, or standards? College has now fully leaped down that manhole. High school has one foot in the air and only the pinky toe on the other foot still on the ground. It's really quite sad.
You are correct about Hersey, forgot about them. He is well within his right per the rules but I know Tom uses his TNT business to recruit new players. He had a QB from York and TE from Palatine transfer there a few years ago, not sure if it worked out for both but I do remember that. Has Hersey had other kids transfer recently? I just know Nazareth and Mount Carmel especially seem to have families uproot and move from out of state to play there. We all want to win so I understand that any coach would love new talent to add to their program, but at what cost and I think it is terrible optics! Stand by my original statement - If you are good you they will find you and you will be recruited, doesn't matter where you go to HS!It's been talked about before. It's Hersey.
There certainly are schools that are much better at promoting their kids and have good connection. But that probably is more about fringe college kids. Yorkville kid transferring really irks me. Yorkville is a great community and theyāve built a nice program.Based on that comment, clearly Nazareth coaches are recruiting others to their program. Not saying anything bad about Racki as I know he is a great coach, but he is allowing this to happen so he is recruiting. You don't find a QB from Pittsburgh to transfer in one year and then a year later find a QB to move from Wisconsin to IL without some sort of recruting. Not saying that other Catholic school coaches wouldn't do the same thing but the question is this: Are they doing what is best for the player or the program? This transfer portal system in HS is broken if families are moving accross state lines, selling homes, in some cases getting new jobs, living apart from each other just becuase they think their 16-17 year old son will get more offers playing in another program. That being said, if the system allows it then they can do it, just sad to see it and 95% of the time the kids gets the same exposure and offers had they stayed put!
Troll elsewhereThis is not going to be a easily accepted factā¦
The Chi ago Public School coaches are all lazy⦠every single one of the.
you can blame the ānon publicāsā all you want, but if you look at the attendance rules of the CPS; there isnāt a better/easier situation than what they are currently in.
CPS does not limit enrollment to districts or miles; a kid can attend whatever public school in Chicago that they want (outside of magnet schools).
If CPS coaches did the same work as the ānon publicāsā they would have a punt 5 football magnet schools.
1. Texas HS football and IL football are like comparing the moon and the sun.Going back to my original point, unfortunately it is very clear that certain highschools such as Nazareth, Hersey, Mount Carmel, LWE to name a few are aggressivly recruiting to try and bolster thier teams to win more games and try to win a state championship. I am not sure what promises they are making to parents and kids, but clearly there are parents willing to uproot entire families just so Littly Johnny can play at these schools.
Just to reiterate my point, what is so sad is that kids/families don't feel any obligation or emotional attachment to play for thier local HS and thier community. My favorite movie of all time is Friday Night Lights - I encourage all my players to watch that movie as many times as possible! For those football players, playing football for Permian HS was more than just a sport, it was a source of pride! Many players felt a deep responsibility to play thier best and for thier high school because they knew the impact it had on all of the alums and the community. Representing their school on Friday nights was a very meaningful experience for them and they wanted to make thier community proud! Sad to say that pride and joy playing for your local high school and community is gone, kids transferring for no reason is the norm now, I blame the coaches and the parents for allowing it.
Players/Parents - Just play football for your local high school and for your community who comes out to support you every week! If you have talent and are a great player, you will be recruited and trust me the grass isn't greener..........
Not all all, does not change my thinking, Having a sense of pride to play for your local HS and community shouldn't matter whether it is 1988 or 2026! Why should a kid have more emotional attachment and pride for his HS if he lives in Texas or Illinois? I respectfully disagree1. Texas HS football and IL football are like comparing the moon and the sun.
2. That movie was based on a team from 1988. That is almost 40 years ago.
You keep bringing up "transferring to get better offers" and while sure it happens no doubt but what if the transfer is because they don't want to play at a crappy football school and want to be a part of a more successful program? Does that change your thinking at all, just a thought?
7v7 teams, QB Training and other position specific Training is why kids are transferring. Kids getting to know each other and tell other kids to think about coming to XYZ School. Not all all, does not change my thinking, Having a sense of pride to play for your local HS and community shouldn't matter whether it is 1988 or 2026! Name a kid that left a crappy school or football program to transfer to a better one? Did Jonas Williams leave a crappy program at Bolingbrook to go to LWE? Did the QB from York and TE from Palatine leave crappy football programs to go to Hersey? Did that QB from Pittsburgh last year and QB from Wisconsin this year leave crappy football programs to transfer and relocate out of state to Nazareth? If they just wanted to go to a "better" program I am sure they could have found one in state. Clearly teams like LWE, Hersey, and Nazareth recruited them. So again, I respectfully disagree
That includes kids from out of state?7v7 teams, QB Training and other position specific Training is why kids are transferring. Kids getting to know each other and tell other kids to think about coming to XYZ School.
yes it does. There are many Wisconsin kids on local 7v7 teams and come to see certain Position coaches. That includes kids from out of state?
What about Naz's QB last year that relocated from Pittsburgh, did he play on a local 7 on 7 ??? Your logic is not accurate, Are you saying that the family of the QB from Wisconsin decided to uproot thier family, sell thier home, biy a new one, relocate to Chicago, get a new job just becuase thier son played 7 on 7 with some local players from Nazareth. No way!!yes it does. There are many Wisconsin kids on local 7v7 teams and come to see certain Position coaches.
His logic plays, you cherry picked one far out of state transfer. What about Naz's QB last year that relocated from Pittsburgh, did he play on a local 7 on 7 ??? Yes many from WI and IN...many.That includes kids from out of state?
If you think TX and IL football are at all similar in terms of community pride/community support/etc...I am not sure what to tell you.Not all all, does not change my thinking, Having a sense of pride to play for your local HS and community shouldn't matter whether it is 1988 or 2026! He usually does in the middle of the night too.Based on that comment, clearly Nazareth coaches are recruiting others to their program. With your 15 years of being involved in HS football you clearly could get Racki's number, you should and voice you displeasure with him.Based on that comment, clearly Nazareth coaches are recruiting others to their program. Not saying anything bad about Racki as I know he is a great coach, but he is allowing this to happen so he is recruiting. Sometimes transfers do organically happen. I imagine this kids dad got relocated or something. Naz didnāt go recruit him. It truly is amazing how these kids facilitate these transfers with minimal adult involvement.yes it does. There are many Wisconsin kids on local 7v7 teams and come to see certain Position coaches.
That is fair, I shouldn't of said bad. They are leaving decent to good programs.I was typing up the exact same response.
Kids arenāt leaving bad programs to go to good ones. They are, for the most part, leaving good ones to go to ones they think are better and will help them develop.
Libertyville to LWE
Bolingbrook to LWE
OSWEGO to MC
Yorkville to Naz
Johnsburg to JCA
And the list goes onā¦
what about him ? His dad played at Notre Dame with a former Naz Captains dad. That was probably the connection. Sorry I can't answer all your allegations, about to board a plane to Miami, we need another RB and WR. @tuccs has been pretty quiet lately. I hope he's down in Texas treating large humans to meals and offering them starting spots. What about Naz's QB last year that relocated from Pittsburgh, did he play on a local 7 on 7 ??? NMThat's not the reason at all that he didn't attend Oswego
OSWEGO to MC
AgreeThat is fair, I shouldn't of said bad. They are leaving decent to good programs.
I will say in your list, every program they left is not as good as the one they went to, FWIW.
I have no idea what you are talking about! How far is it from Mundelein to Wheaton![]()
Just an intrusive thought/questionI have no idea what you are talking about!
I didn't know it was out there on social media now....Just an intrusive thought/question
