Recruiting Vibe: Excitement, energy, positivity, productive, well-planned, responsive to needs.

a case study in contrast
I must admit that I’ve been quite surprised to find out that there is not in fact a required 2-week long beach trip to immediately follow each season.

This was his learning how to coach in the SEC season. He knows now what he needs not just to compete but to win it.
I don't think learning how to coach in the SEC had much to do with it. We were basically one legit bullpen arm from being able to compete for a national championship. I think us being short was just not having a full portal season. I think this next year we're probably going to see the flipside of this year. Have the arms, but missing some key position players (unless we just clean up in the portal or unless some younger players that didn't really play just explode onto the scene next year). Hopefully by year 3 we are supplementing with the portal rather than having to really build our team with it. I know the portal is going to continue to be huge, but I still think it will be easier to keep good players than it will be to go poach them.

So, Nunnalee now in portal, so we have the same number of outfielders as this time yesterday.

One out of three dominoes falls (Nunnalee, Teel, Milewski).

Teel and Lewski will stay. I had a feeling Nunnalee would jet once we signed Christman and the Samford kid.

Would make sense for them to stay. I would expect both of them to be later round picks if they get drafted at all so would think they could make about as much in NIL here as they would get in a signing bonus. Guess it just depends if they prefer riding buses to going to class.

He was hitting .182 after the LSU series and raised his batting average almost 60 points by the end of the year. Hit .423 with 5 homers in his last 7 games.
That's super encouraging but also a really small sample. Hard to say whether that's him finally being healthy and adjusted to high level competition, or just a normal hot streak.

You know the most Mississippi State thing ever will be:

OM lucking up and winning the Natty
Us loading up our team with STUDS for next season
Players getting conscripted before the year is out to fight WW3

I don’t think he’s going to be a guy that hits over .300 but he’s a double digit homer guy so you can live with the average not being quite as high.

From my perspective, once he got healthy he was a serviceable SEC-level catcher. Then there's the reality that if you just DH him for a full season, he's least a .238, 20+ homer guy. His HR/AB numbers are on par with Ace, and that was with the wear and tear of catching...

I don't see how the answer isn't to keep him, and see if you can get a better defensive catcher to campus (portal or HS) so we have the DH option.

I agree, also after his first time playing against Sec pitching, he should do better his senior year. He was really good hitting last several games; he wasn't pulling everything and man the power he has.
