I can't believe that enough people like/watch Pat McAfee to make him worth anywhere near $60M/yr. His over-the-top pro-wrestler-like persona is just terrible.

I consider myself lucky that I grew up during Sportscenter's prime. Every single morning it was on the TV while I was eating breakfast and getting ready for school.

I used to watch sportscenter and some of the talking head shows after school. While I agree they probably aren’t what they used to be, I have no clue as I haven’t watched for probably 15+ years.
I’m guessing the fact that smartphones and technology wasn’t like it is today, was a bigger factor in us watching these shows. we watched to see highlights of a game or what top news was happening. Those joys have been taken away with the instant gratification of the smart phone.

I watch GameDay pretty regular during the college season. That and live sports. Other than that, I stopped consuming ESPN in April 26, 2017, the day ESPN killed Russillo & Kanell. That was the last good show.

He can be irritating AF, but he does bring a new, "younger" vibe to the show, and I do think GameDay has benefitted. When he is unshackled and on his own show, he is too over the top. That said, Im no longer the demographic for ESPN, so I don't care.

Good on him for getting the ESPN money.
