Big 12 Bylaws:
3.6 Sanction of a Member. The Conference may sanction (“Sanction” and “Sanctioned” and
variations thereof) a Member by the affirmative vote of a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors at any meeting of the Directors at which the Director representative(s) of the Member(s) that are the subject of such vote has been given reasonable prior notice and the reasonable opportunity to be present and to be heard. A Supermajority of
Disinterested Directors may take such action if, after the Member’s opportunity to be heard, a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors determines that such Member has: (i) violated any provision of these Bylaws or the Rules and other regulations established from time to time by the Board of Directors that govern the Conference or the Grant of Rights Agreement;
(ii) engaged in any action or a course of conduct materially adverse to the best interests of the Conference taken as a whole;
(iii) taken or omitted to take any other action that could be the basis for Withdrawal as described above if a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors does not elect to deem the action to constitute a deemed Withdrawal at that time; or
(iv) otherwise taken any action or omitted to take an action that a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors determines merits Sanctions.
In accordance with the preceding sentence, a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors shall, in its sole discretion, be empowered to determine whether any Sanctions are appropriate, the type, extent, and conditions to any Sanctions imposed, and impose such Sanctions on a Member depending, in each case, on factors that a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors deems to be relevant, including but not limited to the severity of the harm to the Conference taken as a whole resulting from the action or inaction set forth in the preceding sentence. Without limiting the foregoing and merely as an illustration of the types of Sanctions that could be considered by a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors are prohibitions on appearance in postseason events or televised events, restrictions on revenue distributions, and limitations on recruiting or scholarships.
The Big 12 has already scheduled an AD meeting today and a university president’s meeting on Thursday regarding this matter. I doubt this kid plays, I suspect the Big 12 brings the hammer down. Tech will sue them for sure, so we’ll see if they have the spine to go to court for what’s right for college athletics or not.

If this gets appealed and overturned, can the NCAA or conference make TT vacate all games he played in?
It does look like there's a gathering storm amongst many football programs to not schedule them. Even within the big 12, which has to figure out how to do it. I'm glad there's a storm gathering against them. Interesting that the Georgia AD talked about integrity when he talked about not scheduling them. That coming from an SEC team seems a bit hypocritical.
Trial scheduled... for February 2027. Total coincidence that it's 2 weeks after the championship game. Seems pretty easy to buy a win in the Texas court system if you have money and contacts.

Big12 schools should just make a complete farce of the games if they are forced to play TT. Indefinite delay of game penalties, have the defense "take the field" but only following exactly the letter of the law and do absolutely nothing when the ball is snapped, use draftkings symbols on the giant stupid playcall signs on the sideline...etc.
If I were TT at this point I would dump Sorsby and spend even more money on talent and just bury everyone else in the Big 12 for the next decade and hang like 90 points on K State

If Texas Tech plays Sorsby this fall, imagine his first easy but incomplete pass and the yelling from the stands. "Who did you bet on Sorsby?" "How many points did you take?" "Are we going to cover the spread or not?"
Kinda hard to not look like even more of a hypocrite doing that after the AD and mega boosters throwing their full support at him. So many things could be dealt with easier if people could keep their mouths shut.

the courts already got a guy off from gambling on it’s own team. Do they want another ‘L’?
seems to me somebody needs to appeal the most recent ruling.
It already has been appealed with a hearing date set for after the season ends.
The courts are going to have a hard time forcing something that is subjective in who makes the playoffs.
They can ban them from the B12 championship game, eliminating their autobid path to get in. But they cannot ban them from the playoffs outright.
The CFP committee is also its own private company separate from the NCAA and its conferences. They could disqualify Tech via a morality clause if they so chose.
I can imagine a scenario that Texas Tech goes undefeated and still gets left out of the playoff by the selection committee. That would be absolutely glorious.

That’s the million dollar question. Or 5 million dollar question in Sorsby’s case. Nobody knows because the conferences have always used the NCAA as their enforcement arm, very rarely have they implemented their own punishments.
The news I’m seeing is that the Big 12 is 100% implementing some kind of sanctions, or at least talking about it, and Tech will be responding to any sanctions with a lawsuit. So I guess we’re about to find out.
If the appeal for sorsby's reinstatement can't be held until after the season, the lawsuit about potential conference sanctions should also have the same fate. (I'd love to believe the slow wheels of justice will actually prove beneficial for once but I'd also be an idiot to think they will)
