Looks like my days of posting are coming to an end. My mcgibbs handle was banned out of nowhere today and a new handle I made had a posting of “under review”. I have no clue what I did on this site to warrant it but whatever. If this one gets the boot I guess it’s over.
Dueces
He's had like 20 handles since this farewell post.

I have no idea dude. I just got back from ten days in Spain and haven't had a chance to witness all your ramblings.
Did you by chance spend any time in Barcelona? I will be spending a few days there in a couple of weeks, so I thought I would ask.

Oh yeah, it was the second time I've been there and spent 5 days this time after taking the bullet train from Madrid. Unlike the last visit, I spent time at Barceloneta Beach this time around and I highly recommend it. Outdoor bars and eateries right on the beach and they'll set you up chairs and an umbrella and wait on you hand and foot. Loved it.

I have plenty of recommendations if you need them. Where will you be staying?

A Marriott hotel. Not sure exactly where it is, or if there is more than one Marriott in Barcelona. We have tix to see the Sagrada Familia, and some place called Parc Guell (SP?) has been recommended to us. I think I would rather stroll the Ramblas and check out the bars, stores, and restaurants. Is there a favored local libation?

Ok, because I know where all the tourist attractions are and I also know that most tourism guides recommend staying in L'Exaimple, I would steer you away from that area because although it's nice, you're not especially close to most of the attractions. If I went again, I'd stay in the Gothic Quarter(the coolest area) where you're close to the beach, and next door to La Boqueria(The market)/Las Ramblas. It would be worth it to change your reservation if you're too far back from the coast IMO.
** I was disappointed in Las Ramblas this visit because the entire street is under heavy construction that I assume is still happening, but I'd still recommend it.

La Sagrada Familia is Gaudi's masterpiece and a must see - I've been twice. They've been building it since the 1880s and it's almost finished. I highly recommend opting for a guide.

Park Guell is another Gaudi hotspot and I didn't visit on my first trip so this time we booked it and ended up missing it because when we went to the bus stop that takes you there, nobody told us there was a marathon happening and no buses or taxis could navigate the traffic, ugh. And since you have to arrive within 15-20 minutes of your scheduled entry, we missed it but it is highly recommended.

Montserrat Abbey is surreal and highly recommended. A guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you there and back - it's worth it.

Montjuic Castle is awesome as well. You take a cable car up the mountain and the views are unreal. Great history exhibits(lots of people killed there) and the 1992 Olympic Stadium is also up there. Really, really cool.

All of the beach areas are really nice but the hotspot is Barceloneta Beach if you want to narrow it down. Tons of bars and restaurants, pedestrian plaza, you can rent e-bikes etc... Lots of eye candy too. 😳

There are too many restaurants to narrow down what the best might be but two I highly recommend are Can Fisher, a beautiful open-air restaurant on the beach and Colom in the Gothic Quarter - really popular. Think paella, their most popular dish.

Two of the most popular libations are Sangria and Cava of course. Their Sangria is better than any you've had statesside since you're practically in the vineyard. Had white sangria for the first time in May and that's really good too.

That's it off the top of my head but let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer. Have fun, it's a great city!
