In all sports. Decision to come this week. Nebraska and Georgia have independently banned their teams from playing Texas Tech.

I hope the SEC does the same, but we have a home and home in football on the books.
Would it be cheaper to cancel with them or pay their quarterback off and give him a bunch of money to bet on us moneyline?

don't expect much to come of this.
I don’t know… ordinarily I’d agree with you but I think there is too much money involved with TV partners and casinos/online betting companies. The NFL, espn, Fox and other college teams don’t want their to be unpunished widespread gambling. I’d expect nearly everyone but Texas tech to come out against this.

Could the NCAA just void any of their wins and ban them from post season play? Does a local judge have the authority to over ride the NCAA if they did?

The injunction specifically forbids the NCAA from using its rule of restitution against Sorsby, Texas Tech, or any schools that play Texas Tech.

I'm not sure what power a state court has over the NCAA in that regard, but the NCAA has said it will obey court orders.

OTOH, if Sorsby loses his case, or just tries to dismiss it once the season is over, look for the NCAA to seek severe monetary penalities.

Just looking at the injunction, and the court requires Sorsby to continue his gambling addiction treatment, continue counseling, provide updates on his career, etc. Etc

So my question is, what legit addiction counselor/sponsor thinks its a good idea for Sorsby to continue playing the sport that fed his addiction? Im no expert, but Im pretty sure most alcohol rehabs try to steer their patients away from working in bars or liquor stores.

You speak as if Sorsby actually has an addiction or gives a crap about fixing it if he does.

I think it's hilarious that it took gambling for everyone to jump on this moral high ground about college sports. What a joke.

So just say TT and Georgia are scheduled to meet in the CFB playoff. You think Georgia is going to forfeit the game on this moral high ground? Yeahhhhhh

That’s not a scheduled game. Of course they would play. This is about regular season only.

Yeah I agree with you. And Texas tech was dumb to even push this. They had to know this would be a big deal.

I just think everyone is making too much money with sports gambling for the casinos/TV to not push hard back against this.

People, no program is going to forfeit/boycott a game against TT if this QB plays.

I'm surprised so many of you think that would ever happen.

Don't be gullible, money (the money an opponent will make off this game) always wins.

ND/UGA/TX can afford to stay on their high horse. Look at Tech's schedule, tell me which of those schools is going to lose $500k-$1m or more by forfeiting a game.

College football is better when there's an outlaw program that kicks everyone's *** for a spell. What they are doing is obviously bs, but at least it's entertaining which is a lot more than I can say for the new status quo.

Ross Dellenger days the Big 12 may try to stop this.

The K State AD is furious, and the Big 12 Commissioner says he is meeting with stakeholders to discuss options. The Conference can punish programs for actions detrimental to the sport.

Im skeptical because: A) there may be too much money at stake; and 2) it seems like Sorsby's attorneys would just add the Big 12 to the lawsuit and get the injunction applied to the conference.

But, maybe, the judge and/or appellate court will start hearing the backlash and take corrective measures. It may sound unlikely, but Ive seen it happen. It could have been what happened in the Bediako case.

I’ve had my time of being a degenerate sports gambler but I am past that. I’ve watched families be torn apart by the easy access to sports gambling.

When players can gamble on their own teams, there are going to be issues.

There will be much public outrage, little or no action (before the end of the season).
