Alex injured his arm his senior year at Villanova after a really good junior year. His pro career might have been different without the injury At least he would have been drafted higher. Side notes: He was the same class at Long Branch as NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Sam Mills; he also had a teammate at LB who later played for the Knicks, Clinton Wheeler. Talented senior class at Long Branch that year, for certain.

Kinda bothered me, as it reminded me of how our program has slipped. One of my niece's sons was a terrific HS player. I was speaking to him and a friend about baseball and found the other kid was going to SJ and he didnt consider us.

Oh well. I still have my memory of leaving the beach to go home and watch us play Texas in the College WS. We were getting smoked, came back - in my memory we were down by like 8 runs, but lost a close one. I think this was 2nd round. 2nd WS appearance of my 4 yrs, before they stopped limiting selection by geography (back then, to play in the East region, you had to be from the East)

That is a great job. A NE baseball program diong that today is awesome.

But I think a s16 for Pitino and a pot full of money is disappointing to many, specially with Danny in another FF.

It’s not easy to get further than that. They lost to Duke after all, not exactly an easy game. We’d take either one of those, let alone in the same year.
