If Boaz doesn’t start idk how you expect him to pitch at all then. That’s just my opinion of course.
MJ was a frosh when he took the final shot. Forbes brought Glauber along slowly getting him ready for this moment. If this works we are set for Omaha.
Frankly, our pitching couldn’t be in a better spot for today. Let’s get it!
Really hope the slider is enticing and gets some swing and miss. If they spit on it, pitch count could get up pretty quickly. I’m also a little nervous at how well they approached McDuffie. I know the pitch mixes aren’t identical, but they are pretty similar.
While I’m nervous about it, Caden can absolutely do it. Ryan was fantastic when he was made a starter last year, but it’s a big change. I was hoping to get 2-3 innings out of Boaz and then have Caden ready to go. It’s not going to matter really though if our offense doesn’t wake up.

Our strategy if making them throw strikes and not swing outside the zone is paramount today. Get their starter pitching 25+ pitches the first couple innings and get some run support and their bullpen isnt that scary. I guess they could go with their day 1 guy too.
This is the right decision. In a must win game you throw your best. If you lose then you know you went with your best. If you start boaz and lose while giving up runs early it would be a bad look on Forbes. You got to go with your best.
There aren’t many things at all similar about McDuffie other than they both use a slider… the shape, the angles, the velo… it’s all so different
The top of the first is so huge now. If USC can see 20+ pitches, even if they don’t score, it’s a win for them.
Understood. The slider is the pitch I hope Glauber has more success with than McDuffie did. I do know that Glauber’s fastball plays a lot better, even in fastball counts.
First time through the order is massive. If he can shut them down the first 3 innings then this will work out. If they hit him early then we have played our best card and are screwed.

With Andrew Johnson…he was pretty effective against us on Friday. But I just feel some of those ABs were in a shell-shocked state after the grand slam. I hope we are more locked in against him today. We’ve faired well against RHP this season.
Globes fastball is elite when it’s in the zone
Gonna be a long game time-wise with all the likely pitching changes by both teams. Although I’d be happy if Globe pitched a complete game shut out. Am I asking too much?

Precedent is there. Forbes gave freshman Lynch the start late in the season vs Clemson and then again in winner-take-all against Arizona (he was absolutely NOT the reason we lost that game) last year after him being our long reliever all season

When you look at their road and quality opponent splits they are way less daunting. They play in a VERY defense ballpark at home

I absolutely think starting globe is the right decision. When you are in an elimination game, you pony out your best arm and see how long he can go.
Learned about this the other day. I think it’s some kind of software where you can take BP and simulate a specific pitcher.
