Nebraska has picked up a fourth commitment from powerhouse Loganville (Ga.) Grayson in three-star tight end Olafemi "Joey" Hunter.
Joey hunter is a huge get. He's better than a 3 star. This is a steal![]()

We desperately needed to pick up a good tight end. It's probably too early to say that Carter Nelson is a bust, but it's getting close.Joey hunter is a huge get. He's better than a 3 star. This is a steal![]()
Yeah, but is he a "bust" because our coaches have failed to develope any talent? Their ruining these kids' chances to win anything in College and competing at the next level. We desperately needed to pick up a good tight end. Remember the 5 star Fidone? And then Carter Nelson? Nebraska has been where blue chip tight ends go to wither on the vine. The problem is we can’t keep them healthy. Hopefully that will changeWe desperately needed to pick up a good tight end. It's probably too early to say that Carter Nelson is a bust, but it's getting close.
Is Satt still our TE coach?People thought Nate Boerkircher was a bust, then he goes to A&M for a year and becomes a 2nd round NFL Draft pick.
Yes. And Foley is still on the payroll too.Is Satt still our TE coach?

Most of this coaching staff is a bust, I can assure you that.

Not sure how a walk on who was playing significant minutes at a D1 school could be considered a bust. I never looked at him that way anyways. I actually thought he probably should've played more. All that said I'm glad he was picked as high as he was but IMO there was no way in hell he was a 2nd round talent at TE. I think it was one of the biggest reaches of the draft to be honest. Now I hope he proves me wrong.People thought Nate Boerkircher was a bust, then he goes to A&M for a year and becomes a 2nd round NFL Draft pick.

He was thriving at Nebraska. He was one of our leading receivers and Raiola’s preferred target. He left NU for TA$M for a check. It isn’t even debatableThe “bust” part is that he thrived somewhere else and sucked here.

sounds like his former position coach is the bust."Bust" in the sense that he didn't do anything here in 4 years, then in one year at A&M became a stud who got drafted in the 2nd Round.
Nm. My source was wrong thus I was wrong. Seemed like every time we had a 3rd and 7, he was targeted IF he was available. Boerk’s injuries opened the door for Lindenmeyer to get some of his targets but when Boerk was in the game Raiola often looked for him whether he put the ball in a catchable place. What's your definition of thriving? He had one total TD in 4 years here, and never more 6 receptions in a season. He had as many receptions in one year at A&M, as he had in 4 years here.
Boerk played sparingly his last season at NU due to injuries. He only played in 6 games and in those games he was limited. The Jags are just an extension of the almighty Rams that every team seems to be in awe of. And the Rams drafted a tight end in the 2nd round (they already had two decent ones) so it makes sense that the Jags would draft a 2nd tight end (for them) in the 2nd round. And then the Jags drafted another TE in the 5th. It's all about playing with two or three TEs now. Everybody wants to play two high shell coverage and this is a way to counter that. Not sure how a walk on who was playing significant minutes at a D1 school could be considered a bust. Side note: I'm surprised more NFL teams aren't using a fullback. Almost half the teams are using one. I think it's a matter of there not being as many fullback prospects coming out of college. People on this board still get mocked when they say Nebraska should be using a fullback, but they are right. Pretty stupid that year after year we struggle in short yardage and inside the 10 yard line, but we're too smart to use fullbacks.
Any run on TEs in the 2nd round and centers a bit later says reach to me too. My theory on that is the NFL execs thought this years draft was weak. No sense in drafting the best available on day 2 or 3 if you think those guys are going to have a hard time not getting cut before they play out their rookie deal. So teams just looked at need. Seems ridiculous to draft a back up TE in the 2nd, but I guess these teams look at TE as two different positions.I don't think you are wrong about how the use of the TE has evolved. I understand that part of the game. Im not speaking on the position but the talent at the position. Boerk (imo of course) could've been had 2 or 3 rounds later. I just think it was a HUGE reach in the second round by the Jags. Not because of position but the player selected.

That's a fair take. I understand the logic behind it as well. I hope Boerk does well in Jacksonville. I think he looks like a solid player. I just think second rounds just have way too many talented players to teach on a "solid" player.Any run on TEs in the 2nd round and centers a bit later says reach to me too. As far as Boerk is concerned, the Jags GM is from the Rams and apparently there were some in the NFL who figured Boerk was mismanaged and under coached.
Seems to me that he was in a clump of guys who were all in the same tier and the Jags plucked him out of the pack before a few others. I think the Jags already have a receiving TE and Boerk is a guy who they think will be OK at both. Normally, you get a guy like that in the 5th round though. I think weak draft and obsession with being able to play three TEs like the Rams drove those TEs up.That's a fair take. I understand the logic behind it as well.
