I was in the line of thinking you go with Boaz to start to see if he could get a few innings going then bring in globe.. Just a little bit worried if they get to him early. Hopefully he does what he usually does and shuts him down
Yeah. Don’t understand this one. Has Glauber started a game ever? Just start Boaz with a short leash. Getting cute here

He started against Duke in the Sunday game, not to mention the kid has probably started every game of his life until this year. He’s the best out here on the roster, Forbes is going with his guy.

And a large amount of folks on this board have been hollering for Globe to be the Sunday starter for weeks now......

Freely admit I figured they'd go Boaz/Globe etc, but Forbes said yesterday - matchups matter and they clearly see something that says Glauber matches up better with the USC line up.

Still have to play the game and so does USC......All hands on deck today save for 'maybe' DeCaro - lol - and let it play out.

Yeah. A bit shocked myself… Still would like to be sneaking some innings in from Boaz. Guess anything is on the table today, but this effectively removes Boaz from any consideration today.

Just love the idea of them seeing something so different from Globe before getting to him. Whether it be Boaz or Rose. And the one data point of globe starting. But I’m guessing after Friday night Forbes isn’t about to go down without using his best pitcher first… which I also understand.

Either the offense explodes or Duff is going to have to get some very meaningful outs today!! Hope he’s feeling like the Church Lady and ‘bout to Exorciiiise some demons!!

Don't like it , Would rather have Globe ready and Boaz on short leash. Are we going to depend on the Professor to close. As much as I like what he has done regular season his track record in Super Regional has not been good. Game 1 and don't forget last year vs Arizona. I really hope he has his usual good stuff and does a great job but I am nervous about it.

I really do not like this. All the talk about process and consistency.
Really hard to question Forbes and staff on pitching decisions. Last 2 weekends the changes have paid off (we just didn’t hit on Friday this weekend and McDuffie picked a bad day… to have a bad day).

That said, I’m more than a little surprised at this one. Figured it would be Boaz for 1x or 2x through the order, then Globe for as long as he can go and is effective, then Rose / Matty / McDuffie as needed to hopefully close it out.

Regardless, as has been mentioned, bats have to show up today or else none of it matters.

Only 3 lefties in their order IIRC

Yea if you just had Glauber available, i could see starting Boaz, but since we have Mcduffie and Rose ready to go, plus matty and Folger and maybe Lynch for 15-20 pitches, this makes sense. Get 5-6 out of Globe and see what happens

He talked about it in the PC yesterday, they clearly like the matchup of Glauber better against the lineup so I’m sure this is a well reasoned decision. I still don’t feel good about it but I’m just a guy online.

I don’t want to see anyone question Forbes decision after the game depending on how it goes. I was personally on the start Boaz train.

but there was no wrong decision here. You either ride your stud or stay consistent with a not nearly as good pitcher. Either way if it doesn’t work out I don’t want to see anyone blame Forbes for this. Globe will be ready and we have 4 quality arms behind him that are fresh

My assumption to this point was that Boaz would start, with Glauber expecting to get meaningful innings. Glauber has earned the right to be the starter, given multiple games where he has come in to pitch 5-6 innings for a starter that couldn’t get very deep into a game. Is he the right choice? Don’t know, but looking forward to watching him take his shot. If you assume that we should be able to get an average of 2 and a third innings from Glauber, Boaz, McDuffie, and Rose, then we want need anyone else. If we need more arms Matthijs, Chewy, Padgett, Seagraves and possilly Lynch should be available, and all except Lynch well rested. With that many arms available, everyone should be on a short leash if things start going south. My biggest concern for the day is getting timely hits, and relief pitchers being ready to get outs when they come in with runners on base.
