welp. that's what good and deep pitching will do for you. i know it's a hot take, but i've never been impressed by Parker's staffs since he's been here. they're top heavy with nothing else, and not much development.
We at least have our core top throwers returning next year provided someone doesn't decide to leave. That being said, we need hardcore shut down relievers you can depend on to at least not walk a gazillion batters. So, yes pitching recruiting is a premium requirement next year as is a few heavy hitters. I thought catching might be a huge need, but big Lew has really improved and starting to just now figure it out. Still, I would like to see us make Brick, out of Memphis, a good offer to at least make him think. Brick looks like a carbon copy of Daniel Jackson. I'm feeling much better about SS too as Ryder has made good strides. He's only getting better defensively.
Having more High School baseball talent within an hour radius of Athens than we have in the entire area of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi helps.

Got a really good bracket. Our fans cared more about hosting and the dude than getting a better draw. We got an absolute **** draw this year for the sake of hosting. However if our pitching staff was better it wouldn't matter

As someone point out in another thread. OM out spends State by $3m for baseball. OM has way more money than State. It's obvious now paying players is legal.
No, the fans care more about hosting that maybe getting a 2 seed and being able to get perhaps a better matchup. If we were sent to southern we would have been in pretty good shape. Or sent to Nebraska or even North Carolina. Sometimes it's more about the bracket you end up in getting to the cws versus who hosts.
Where you impressed with the 7+ ERA of the 2023 staff just before he got here and made us competitive again?
They are not better than us, we beat them 4 times this year. They just got a good draw, many of us saw this coming when the regionals were announced. The other side of our bracket has the best team in baseball. It sucks, but it is the luck of the draw.
What exactly were we supposed to do about that? Lose on purpose? I mean we almost accomplished that anyway at the end of the season.
None of this matters. Purpose of the tournament is to determine a champion and make money. We all like to brag about Omaha appearances, and that’s certainly perception, but oh well.
These days if you make the Supers, thus get prime TV slots, that’s plenty exposure.
All that being said, we built that stadium to use. Hosting regionals matters for us and should always be our goal.

Just stop. Obviously hosting is better than not hosting. Has nothing to do with what the fans want or don’t want.
