Anyone who likes WWII history, go read about the Bedford Boys from Bedford County, VA. No other county lost more young men on D-Day per capita than Bedford County. They do a big ceremony every year honoring them.

I met a veteran that was on Omaha beach, he would never talk about it except for little bits here and there

Really good book. I would love to visit the town. They put up an amazing memorial for the soldiers who sacrificed it all in World War II.

If you ever get the chance, definitely do it. My wife is from Roanoke, which is right outside Bedford County. It's beautiful area. Attended quite a few field parties in Bedford County back in college and Smith Mountain Lake is also really nice.

I remember that day. My brother and I were upstairs in bedroom. I heard dad coming full force up yelling about the news. I also remember 12/07, mother very upset thinking there would be fighting in USA, father telling her to quit worrying wasn't going to happen. Memories I have lots of them, could use a few more $'s.

I was just talking to my boss. She didn't know what D-Day was. I'm standing there flabbergasted. I proceeded to tell her all about it. And she's my age. This is important guys! It's like Pearl harbor. Never forget!

Jeez. Its one thing to not be overly interested in history, but to be completely oblivious to it is another story.
