I should probably just keep my mouth shut on the details of this topic. Christina appears to have recognized that particular coach’s value/expertise and utilizes said coach carefully as I hear it. It started back either one of YJS’s best performing teams with quite a few D1 players.
Two of our kids played for YJS (ironically the lesser athletes of the 3 according to them and my eyes as well), and both had pretty good experiences with coaches. And all coaches have strengths and weaknesses of course. I simply observed that a LOT, a WHOLE lot, of club coaches are a.) in it more for money and winning, bringing credit to themselves and their business, rather than player development (especially for ALL KIDS in their teams, rather than imbalanced in favor of the top performers), and/or b.) don’t really know the game that well, and rely on star players performing individually more than team lacrosse the kids will need to understand to perform well on championship college teams IMO.
I certainly do not know everything, but I had the fortune of playing for/with some incredibly proven coaches and players, and I learned a lot. Not everyone agrees with everything I think either mind you…. So my reflections on coaching and the best YJS coach(es) should be taken with grains of salt anyway. Sorry for the long non-answer! If you ever with to connect and talk off-line I’d be happy to. I am old now but still love the game.
