I saw that laser weed blaster video somewhere and couldn't decide if it was real...you could print money with a home version if it had small weatherproof dock and could just patrol the beds and yard looking for weeds all the time. <obligatory insult of the nytimes sourcing>

Sooooo......

We've got driverless cars, I see them every day. I know many people are skeptical but they are in the major cities. Check.
We've got autonomous robots. Although they move slow and must be told what to do. Check.
We've got cameras everywhere, including the cars and robots above, and imagery getting better daily, and drones. Check.

Taking all that into account, and specifically spreaking of "patrol", what exactly is keeping us from:

I don't think we'll ever get Robocop or Terminator because I doubt we'll ever get the human tissue part right. But an indefensible robot that is controlled by an angry gamer miles away who grew up playing Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto?

Me thinks we ain't gonna have to worry about all this 'crime' stuff folks are worried about now. Try arguing about police brutality with this mother 17er.

Biggest concern is human in the loop doing bad things, in general, not BOT taking over themselves and independently.

I actually think gamers may draw guns more slowly, because there is no safety issue for them, than a human cop in the moment, who is definitely fearing for his safety. Interesting concept. At least in one on one situations.
