Psychiatry is a scourge on our society. We have never had more mental problems than now and more people on medications.
Psychology and psychiatry aren’t the same thing.

We dont have “more mental problems”, we have a situation where state institutions for people with severe mental illness were closed so those people are forced either into private treatment if they’re affluent enough to afford it or into the world to fend for themselves.

And the Constitution can be amended ... so, are you going to push for a Constitutional amendment because of the aforementioned deviancy?
I am trying to end this war right now. Then balance the budget. Your deviant behavior is safe from me for awhile.

Psychiatry is a scourge on our society. We have never had more mental problems than now and more people on medications.

Psychiatry allows people to understand themselves, without falling back on ancient superstitions to attempt to save them from mental issues. It's knowledge. That's why you hate it. You prefer attempting to "cure" mental ills by brainwashing into a cult that wants you to feel bad for your shortcomings, only to be "saved" from them by some mythical higher power. Speaking of "medications," Marx didn't have much right, but he nailed this: "Religion is the opiate of the masses."

So you DON'T want to outlaw the deviant thought/behavior that is the evangelical community in this country? kidmike is now promoting deviancy. That was easy.

Lots of people claim to be Christian but want to pick and choose what they want to believe.

The Bible is clear on these points:
1. Two genders, Man and Woman.
2. Marriage is between a Man and a Woman.
3. Sexual Relations outside of marriage is wrong. Sexual immorality.

So how can homosexuals ever not participate in sexual immorality? Well bye not having sex obviously. That is not antiquated it is just the facts.
Ah, what we have here is an honest to goodness fundamentalist fanatic. No different than some IRGC Shiite fanatic in Iran.

I bet you believe the earth is only 5,000 years old, that Eve ate that apple and that Noah took two of every animal on his boat too don’t you.

You mean no different than a fanatic in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am not Muslim of course. But liberals never seem to have any problems with their beliefs.

I don't see much different between your beliefs and those of Muslim fundamentalists.

For the record I am a Christian and I'm a fiscally conservative, socially liberal independent.

Of course not. They are heterosexual. Did I miss something?

You missed logical thinking. And not being a bigoted complete arsehole.

Again, your reasoning for your position that homosexuals shouldn't be able to be parents was that, based on what they were "doing," they couldn't have kids naturally ... so no parenthood for them.

Of course, this logic would apply to infertile heterosexual couples, as well.

Your logic failed ... yet again.

And this is when you retreat into "but the fantasy man in the sky told me, via ancient fairy tales made up by men, it shouldn't be this way, even though other people, who also believe in the fantasy man in the sky, dispute this ... my way is the only way."

Sorry it is difficult for you to wrap you head around. What is a family and where did the concept come from? Why do homosexuals want to play make believe? They want to have the Betty Crocker life with gay sex. Sorry guys that’s not for you. Why do they want it? You can’t answer me.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. What you say may be true regarding state institutions, but we may have some cultural stuff (some of it related to technology) increasing the likelihood someone develops depression or anxiety or the like.

It's also true that as a society we're much much more aware of mental illness and much more likely to diagnose. (compared to the past)

I agree on the state institutions. But it seems that eventually everything will be labeled a mental illness that will be treatable with a pharmaceutical drug. We are being saved by Big Pharma!

I think we're producing more anxious, poorly socially adjusted people than we used to. That causes issues. And since we're much more aware of all things mental health, we're more likely to prescribe drugs.

A better solution, for many people, would be to live differently. Culturally we need to make some adjustments, that'll clean up some of this.

Do we over diagnose and over medicate? Probably. Do we really need to be giving so many 7 year old boys amphetamine for hyper-activity? Probably not. I've known some young people that became hooked on Xanax due to a prescriber giving it to them indefinitely, some of our efforts strike me as a bit ill-considered.

I was given an anti-depressant indefinitely with no talk of an off ramp... turns out you sort of need a plan there.

On the flip side...

But for the people that really do have significant issues with mental health, we do a much better job now than we used to. So the field has definitely advanced in ways, and our awareness is helping people. That doesn't mean we're not screwing some things up. Mixed bag.

So these Cultural adjustments… People need a community. For many that is a church family. A lot of folks have gotten away from that. Obviously other clubs, etc people could join. We are social creatures and we need connections not just screen time.

Yeah, basically. Living like we had for most of human history. Physically moving about throughout the day and physically interacting with other people. (not just screen) Preferably out in the sun at times.

I can't answer you, regarding what? Why a particular person wants to raise a child?! You'd have to ask them. But plenty of people who "can't," or choose not to, reproduce, want to raise children. Infertile couples. Homosexual couples. Single prospective parents.

Yours is an absolutely ridiculous premise ... and you keep making arguments, and when those arguments are blown up, you avoid them/pretend they don't exist.

You're very disingenuous. Isn't that some kind of sin in your fantasy world?

You haven’t blown up any arguments you just move on to some random side quest like giving people anal organisms.
