Wow, O$U got off cheap. Our moronic administration was paying seven figures per capita with no proof needed.
Honest question ..do think Ohio State wouldn't have paid people off in hopes of making the story die if they were in our situation?
I agree they (and everyone else) would have handled the PR part better but trying to understand why people have an issue with settlements.

I have no issue with settlements if there's proof of harm being done to someone. PSU certainly bungled not just the PR, but pretty much everything else. It was a total failure of leadership. I was simply comparing the per capita payouts.

Fair enough. We completely agree on the total failure of leadership. They're all at best incompetent. We won't get into "at worst".

We disagree about settling civil cases without proof. Civil cases are settled every day for high amounts to avoid the costs of a trial and the risk associated with it. It's also not an admission of guilt. I get the frustration but, truthfully, the only thing they did right IMO was settle those cases. I would have advised to settle. I think most would. There's so much risk with a civil trial especially for a client like Penn State with basically unlimited cash.

Review any civil case settlement kiddo
Why does absolutely no one in the press, TV media, or with any sense of fairness not ask the NCAA and The Big Ten why there is no punishment coming to OSU for the actual raping of college students by an actual OSU employee that was reported to actual university officials who looked the other way?

One of my favorite parts of what the ncaa did wrongly to PSU was reducing football scholarships from 85 to 65, thereby putting innocent players left on the roster at greater risk of injury or a serious health issue. Egregious by the ncaa.

Osu is in a similar situation and they spent 8 years fighting the settlements.
