Mega's Savo Drezgic is having a strong bounce back season in the ABA for Mega. The former UGA guard, is averaging 15.4 PPG, 3.2 RPG and 4 APG, on 42/35/77 splits. He's been giving a boost to Mega's offense this season, I still think he can be a lead guard in the NCAA but certainly a prospect who needs the ball in his hands to be effective and likely play in a slower tempo. Has a bright future ahead, has to clean up the turnovers, but his handle has tighten up this season, a really solid 1v1 creator and always is fun playmaker.

It all sort of depends on how the staff sees Mason’s ability to contribute. If Mo has some concerns, this would be an option if the kid realizes he comes off the bench at UK. Not saying he could not win the starting job but I see that as highly unlikely. If evaluators see him potentially starting for the Zags, I suspect UK is not an option.

I would like to add one more guard personally. I was thinking some lower-level Euro guard, similar to Drezgic coming off his year at UGA (2.9 PPG), like LSU's Ron Zimmer (2.2 PPG) ~ Israeli. However, Drezgic would probably be able to command a bigger role somewhere other than UK.

Miami had another Israeli CG, Dovrat, that got 3.8 PPG, that entered the portal, but he probably wants a bigger role too.

We have Mason Williams as a backup to zoom and Alex. We have Zay Hawthorne.
Zay is little more than a walk on caliber talent here only because of his brother. And Mason is a completely untested freshman.

So, YES, I’m all for adding this guy if it’s still realistically possible. Lack of depth at point guard has killed us the last couple years. This would make damn sure it doesn’t happen again.

I'd really like to see a SG get with the last spot. Either a Reclass kid (like a late bloomer who needs time to fill out his frame) who is willing to make a little money and play reserve minutes while improving. It's better than going to high school and not getting paid. Or find a young developmental Euro who gets to use the year to acclimate to the US and develop. Those types of players are rare (high upside players willing to wait their turn while they improve) but that's what I'd love to try and find with the last roster spot. I doubt you find a guy who can come in and make a measurable contribution at this point who would willingly come in. If they do take someone, it'll more than likely be a development piece or low ranked prospect hope and see practice body. I could also see Pope having a campus wide tryout for a walk on to take the last roster spot, ala Zack Tow.

This is the same team Jelavic played for, correct? Seems like UK has a good connection with that club (or more importantly the agent).

I think building agent relationships will be of the utmost importance in the NIL era as it stands now. One reason I really hope Crawford joins the staff; besides already coaching high school kids he of course has the bonafides to make connections with these agents.

I can see the lack of guards on the roster and understand where folks are coming from but we already have a team of 13 legit players and one glorified walk on in Zyon.

We already have multiple legit players that will not play barring injuries.

Everyone would comment “how can Louisville have room for any more players?” Well they have 11 I think and 2 of those are the stinky Ellis kid and Dynes.

I think we have enough guards already. It would be nice if he was available next year.
I'd feel a bit more secure with a two that can contribute and has high volume shooter upside...Just in case.

All our guards are ones. I'd way rather have too many points than not enough but I think we have stacked the one slot as much as reasonably possible and if we add any more it should be a 2.

He’s be a pass first point guard though. I think he’d get minutes if he came. He could share the point with Zoom. Wilkins could just play his natural position. I like it. Heck our practice would be epic. Not saying he’d be ALL SEC, but he’d help us I think. We got a spot to give.

Wilkins ability to transition to 2G will be key to UK’s success. If UK does somehow land another guard, I don’t think it has to be a PG.

Except he's not. He played 8 games at Georgia 2 years ago. He averaged 7 minutes and 3 ppg.

Things can change in 2 years, sure, but so much that a guy who can't get on the court for a 9 seed is suddenly a surefire starter for a top 25 team? He reads as Kerr Krissa 2.0, at best.

Pope has 14 guys right now. That's probably too much as is, and someone would have to leave to make a spot for a guy who's not coming to ride pine.
