I have coached girls grades 2 - 4 soccer. I am glad to no longer be coaching girls grades 2 - 4 soccer lol.
You spend more time just trying to get their attention!

God bless those Dads that coach the kindergarten soccer teams!

I became a wrestling coach when I was student teaching. One of the coaches was showing my around and pointed out the wrestling room.

He said "That is the wrestling room, I am the head coach" I told him that I wreslted in high school.

He said "I need a JV coach for the season, do you want the job?"

I told him that I was a horrible wrestler and that I would be horrible at coaching it.

He said "It pays ____ an hour" (I forget what the amount was but it was pretty good)

Long story short, I was the JV wrestling coach!!

Basketball: 5th grade

I almost forgot, YMCA flag football 1st-2nd grade. If you could get your team to run a reverse, you scored almost every time. It was both hilarious and great.

First of all, wrestling is THE BEST. But them tournaments do take all day haha but I enjoy the tournaments.

I have coached wrestling, football, and soccer.
Wrestling is by far my favorite to coach.

Coaching soccer was primarily 4-5 year olds and 10-12 year olds.
The 4-5's......we're just out here to get them kids tired for nap time and give the parents a break :ROFLMAO:

Soccer and baseball, and I use the term head coach loosely because I was in over my head on both.

One of my favorite memories though, and it makes it all worth it, was coaching my son in soccer... There was a new video game that had just come out, I THINK it was Madden, and my son wanted it. So I told my son if he scored a goal in the second half I'd buy it for him and he literally kicked the ball from midfield and scored, 1 second into the second half. That little **** cost me like, fiddy bucks. Hahaha

Basketball for two or three season for my daughter and my son.

Soccer for my son from K-8.
He's now in highschool and seeing him and some of his friends from those teams play for his school and others is so gratifying.

My dream the whole time that I was doing more to help them than hinder them and if I could see them playing in highschool I would be happy.

Enjoyed the on field stuff more than I ever did with trying to organize parents for practices and games.

Still remember one game in 7th grade or so that my guys pulled out the win playing the entire game no subs and being down a man only having 10.

HS football is the best once the season starts. There is something about just having those 9 (or 8) regular season games, every Friday, it is magical.

I coached American Legion baseball a couple of summers while in college.

It was fun for the most part, and most of the parents were just happy these guys had something to do. Also made me kind of sad, though. I wasn't good enough to play college baseball at the universities I wanted to attend, so I knew my time with baseball was coming to an end. And it was - I've barely put on a glove since.

Cycling (Bike racing)
Rowing
Racquetball.

Cycling is my fave i've coached road cycling, Crit cycling and Track racing (Velodrome)----so many aspects of training methods and race tactics for singular racers and team tactics.

not really "coaching" but have been a sportsmedicine specialists for D1 Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, Soccer, and Olympic games and international competitions. On occasion this usually included a little bit of coaching as well sort of.

I learned a lot of interesting things. Like girls that age for the most part really do not want to stand out from the crowd. We had a girl who could score from half field in 2nd grade, but she didn't want to make anyone feel bad, and really didn't want to stand out from the crowd. 3 years of explaining "Sophie, you realize you could score 8 goals a game if you wanted to, right?" So we just sucked it up and lost games that she could have taken over and won by herself :ROFLMAO:

I am not sure baseball counts, though. It's more like a babysitter that tries to get kids to pay attention and not play in the dirt. 🤣

Wrestling & PeeWee Flag Football... Wrestling has always been my sport anyway so when it came time to help coach my son and his teams it came natural.

While I didn't "Coach" wrestling in his High School years I was always at his side during the tourneys and would coach him when his coaches were tied up on another mat. The rest of his team always asked that I do the same for them as well so I was kind of the defacto backup coach when the others weren't around.

My son graduated in 24 and I miss it Greatly... but we still have our Wrestling mats and have a go at it from time to time... I'm expecting my first Grandchild this week actually and have already told my daughter and her husband that Grandpa is ready to spar on the mats once he's of age and I will pay for any and all Club activities once he's ready...

Coaching younger kids is harder than coaching HS kids. You are teaching them everything, from the ground up, it is so much more work.

It is all part of the reason that "select coaches" only take kids that know how to play. They don't actually want to coach.
