Anything less than a 10 year 100 mil extension thats 100% gaurented would simply fall well short.

Extend? We offered Milan more than the Pope makes and it took him a week to take it because he kept looking for a better place to play to match the money. If he really wanted to play here he and for Pope he could have decided that in 10 seconds. Nobody wants to really play here anymore. So extension to this Coach, Hard NO for me.
Last season should halt any talks about a contract extension for a long time. I need a final 4 and a title in the next 3 years to even feel decent amount paying him over $6mil/year.

They better be saving that money. Cal/Mitch/Pope has done so much damage to the UK brand the last decade that I’m sure we will have to overpay whoever the next coach is. Which I’m fine with IF it’s a guy who is worth overpaying for. That basically means no questionable hires. Unless it’s a guy that’s already been winning big (Hurley/Oats/Golden) then don’t pay the new coach anymore than any other school would. We overpaid for Pope given his resume. On top of that we had to give byu $5m just to be able to overpay Pope. UK has been embarrassingly bad with money/contracts the last decade.
