Pretty good discussion on the shortcomings of all the head coaches since Osborne, including Rhule.

He’s actually an LSU Tiger. He is a fkn Hawkeye lover who cares what he says.
I always think he does a pretty good job. He’s actually an LSU Tiger.
Right?Severe is one of the few who should be listened to
That is actually a pretty good take. His take that Bo needed head coaching experience between LSU and NU was interesting. If Bo had gotten the burr out of his saddle that the media/fan scrutiny and other parts of his job that seemed to make him so surly and a not-so-great face of the program, and realized those were not NU issues but head coach anywhere issues, his tenure at NU may have gone differently
Your hyperbole is annoying, yet kind of funny because that's who you are. I mean that as a compliment too. That is actually a pretty good take.
I am a huge Bo fan...so nothing he did bothered me because I am not a 12 year old girl who takes everything personally. But I know a lot of our fanbase can't handle a coach that doesn't want to make love to them.
With that said, Rhule was a total fan favorite because he kept stroking our dongs and playing with our balls...but we see how quick that wore off.
Yeah, I like him. He has great insights and isn't a half wit like most every other sports talk personality around here.I always think he does a pretty good job.
Never bothered me!Your hyperbole is annoying, yet kind of funny because that's who you are. I mean that as a compliment too.
BUT... Pelini didnt need to stroke everybody off to be liked or wanted around here. All he had to do was NOT be a d!ckhead. There was a lot of middle ground he could have gravitated towards but he chose to be an *** instead. Which did eventually wear thin.
Him and Kugler were great together.Yeah, I like him. He has great insights and isn't a half wit like most every other sports talk personality around here.
Him and Kugler were great together.
I know that a lot of fans need 100% positive all the time and a lot of our fans also think that they know everything so they can't stand anyone else saying anything.
It really was! They were great together.Easily the best sports talk show Omaha ever had IMO
Bo was definitely calmer at YSU than he was at NU so maybe that take has some merit. There certainly wasn’t the pressure and media scrutiny at YSU that there was at NU.His take that Bo needed head coaching experience between LSU and NU was interesting. I like his input he doesn’t sugarcoat it.I always think he does a pretty good job.
Who was that giant puss of a QB we had under Callahan? He was a 4 star, I think he goes by throwgod now? I remember Severe telling everyone before he ever stepped foot on campus he was terrible and not a D1 QB....one of many recruits he nailed. Don't listen to him anymore because I don't travel for my job like I used to, but I liked him when I did
Didn’t he blow up at the officials during a playoff game and cost YSU the game? His faults were he didn’t hire top assistants because he didn’t like anyone who might make him look bad and the other one and his biggest Demon was his ego/temper. It didn’t bother me when he did a press conference direct and to the pointBo was definitely calmer at YSU than he was at NU so maybe that take has some merit. Ehhh, I know us fans liked to complain about his asst coaching hires butDidn’t he blow up at the officials during a playoff game and cost YSU the game? And he always had good DB coaches.Ehhh, I know us fans liked to complain about his asst coaching hires but
Carl became a D1 head coach
Tim Beck went to OSU (I think), Texas and then became a head coach
I honestly don't remember the rest of his staff but that is still pretty good.
And if his staff wasn't good and he was still winning 9 and 10 games "on his own" that is even more impressive.
John Papuchis has turned himself into a Mike Ekeler type of guy, ST coordinator/LB at 3 P4 schools the last 7 years. John Garrison is a respected O line coach.Ehhh, I know us fans liked to complain about his asst coaching hires but

I am a huge Bo fan...
You do wonder if his personality was a powder keg no matter when he may have taken the NU job or whatever experience he had elsewhere. He was always on the edge of being pissed off about something and some personalities just can't handle pressure when it all comes down on you as head coach. I loved when he coached the Michigan State bowl game. I think he won many over right there. And his early years he infused some aggression into the program but the pressures ate him up and say what you will the recruiting dropped off. I think he was a short wicked candle and didn't have what was required to be a long tenured coach at this fish bowl.Bo was definitely calmer at YSU than he was at NU so maybe that take has some merit. There certainly wasn’t the pressure and media scrutiny at YSU that there was at NU.
Kind of a weird take because Bo went to a perfect situation after Nebraska and had major issues with the media and following rules set down by the university. He obviously didn't learn anything to the point where he ruined a promising career. Hypocritically he seems immune to taking responsibility for his actions and how his approach to people, the media, authority might have consequences. That is actually a pretty good take.

I think Shawn Watson was his first oc and I believe Watson was actually a calming effect on Bo, when he was let go Bo felt more empowered Jmo. Look I was solid on Bo after he coached the bowl game after frank was fired. I’m not a fan of severe be he was just about spot on with his analysis. Hide sight is 20/20 the big question is how do we improve from here on. Sounds like from severe there was a mess in the athletic department and it took Rhule 3 years to clean house.Ehhh, I know us fans liked to complain about his asst coaching hires but

Again...if I was just starting out my career in coaching and someone saidKind of a weird take because Bo went to a perfect situation after Nebraska and had major issues with the media and following rules set down by the university. He is a hell of a football coach when placed with a perfect group of guys who don't have any external accountability. The moment he takes any heat however he has no capacity for self-reflection and improvement. Perfect example of this is the fact his first tenure at LSU was very successful, he then ended his career after much failure at LSU, and was basically doing exactly the same things but instead giving up 50 points a game.
Was Ekler also on Bo's staff? Because he is also a big deal.John Papuchis has turned himself into a Mike Ekeler type of guy, ST coordinator/LB at 3 P4 schools the last 7 years. John Garrison is a respected O line coach.
YeahWas Ekler also on Bo's staff? Because he is also a big deal.
So Beck, Pap, Carl, Ekler...Garrison (who I guess is the OL coach at Ole Miss)Yeah
They were greatEasily the best sports talk show Omaha ever had IMO
I am not a Bahe fan when he starts talking about the BaheJays. But together those two are very funny. Schick got suckered into hosting a banquet for us and he was great...so was I.They were great
Matt Schick and Nick Bahe were pretty good also
Guess I missed that.Didn’t he blow up at the officials during a playoff game and cost YSU the game? His faults were he didn’t hire top assistants because he didn’t like anyone who might make him look bad and the other one and his biggest Demon was his ego/temper. 2015 playoff game against North Dakota state, it’s on YouTube in all fairness to Bo I don’t think the db interfered with ND states receiver but the call was made he should have kept his mouth shut all they needed was a field goal to tie the gameGuess I missed that.
Curious what Bo did to make you a huge fan? I thought he did good with Callahan recruits, but was not overly impressed after that. After NU, he never did much as a younger coach. That is actually a pretty good take.
