Sounds like you'd know what you're getting into if you went to either event VOLUNTARILY.

If you don't want to see it, don't go. How bout that?

I wouldn't take my son to mardi gras on Bourbon St either. But not really what most people are talking about when they're talking about things being "pushed" on them.
The question was “Why do you care if they have parades, etc?” Then compared gay pride parade to a Greek heritage parade.

I answered why people may see those two kinds of parades differently. Not sure why you have an issue with my answer.

You keep putting on that dress to wave your Pride flag & we’ll keep thinking you’re mentally ill. Sound good?
Why doesn't anyone worry about the children in the Greek parade?

I guess I just don't understand why people care then. Who is being asked to agree with everything and say its great? Why do you care if they have parades, etc? I went to a greek festival in Greenville a few weeks ago. They were celebrating who they were and their heritage, etc. I at no point felt at odds because my heritage is German Irish. People flying a shamrock around St Patrick's each year, who really cares. Rainbow flag, is just a flag. They are sharing their support. They aren't asking anything of you. Just my two cents.
I think it should be actively discouraged.

What should be actively discouraged? Pride parades or homosexuality in general?
Pride parades for sure, but also homosexuality in general. People have all sorts of sexual attractions that they don’t act on, I don’t see how it is any different. It should be discouraged as deviant behavior. I’m not talking punishable or anything, just shunned.

I feel like you just want to shove gay people back in the closet and think if you do so they’ll just disappear

Why would you consider homosexuality as deviant behavior?

I don’t really think gay people exist as a separate group.
What do you mean by this?

Sexual attraction doesn’t make you different. Like someone with a foot fetish isn’t called a footy and celebrates his footy pride or ancestry or whatever. Just using that as an example. It is deviant behavior because naturally sex is supposed to be between a man and a woman to reproduce. Societies set the boundaries on how far outside normal is deviant. All sorts of behaviors fall into that category. Obviously people are having sex for pleasure and not just reproduction, but that was the design. We should not encourage otherwise. And then is it just sex or now marriage and wanting to have a family.

Yeah I feel like you just don’t understand lgbt people at all. It’s not even comparable to someone having a foot fetish. If sexual attraction didn’t make you different then why is and was homosexuality criminalized and lgbt people discriminated against.

How do you feel about voluntarily celibate people?

How is it not comparable to any other sexual attraction? If you are a married man and attracted to women you don’t act on that attraction because you are married. It’s just a personal desire isn’t it?

I think I'd take a "religious" argument over whatever this is.

There are a myriad of reasons why this is problematic, from nature, to societal norms and behaviors progressing and changing, to an understanding of sexual pleasure, to your own disagreeing with yourself in your own post (Sex is supposed to be between a man and a women to reproduce, and yet sex can be for pleasure by design).

But ultimately, I think you should just talk to and engage with more gay people. It would be helpful I think

How did I contradict myself? The biological function is for reproduction. I was just acknowledging that people do it for pleasure as well, but again denying yourself pleasure is a form of self control. I don’t just eat cookies all day because I want too.

"Hey! We went from legalizing marriage between two same-sex people in 2012, to pretending there are more than two sexes and forcing males into female locker rooms, sports, and prisons, prescribing exogenous hormones and deleterious surgeries to amputate healthy tissues.

Why would any BIGOT balk at that notion?!?!

What the H?!?!"

It's just chalk full of logical fallacies, including this argument.

You don't eat cookies all day even though you want to cuz you will get fat or over indulging leads to distaste.

But do you have that same energy with your wife? Is too much sex with your wife wrong? Over indulgent? Does it lead to distaste for you?

The biological function is reproduction, the sociological function is pleasure, no? That's the argument you're making, right?

Same with the homosexual community- they can understand the biological function of sex is reproduction, but the sociological function is pleasure, intimacy, and connection.

Do you honestly disagree with that?

That's just stupid. People should remain celibate for life because they aren't attracted to the opposite sex? Why would you think that makes sense? Would you stop having sex with your wife if it wasn't the norm and people who don't know you or understand you say you should?

You shouldn’t have sex with animals or kids but some people want to do it. It’s what is accepted or not. Why can’t people remain celibate versus being deviant?

you can have pleasure, intimacy, and connection, without sex. Or just not homosexual sex
