Me: Yeah, he hasn't lived up to our expectations, but he has done better than Pat Kelsey. Pope has beaten 13 top 20 teams. Has PK beaten any good teams, what's his best win?

its odd although not surprising to see the UL fanbase pump out their chest. this is a fanbase who would swear jared swopshire was as good as demarcus cousins.

kelsey is 0-9 against the the final kenpom top 20. compare any stat....as bad as pope has been, he is miles ahead of kelsey. and pope has outperformed kelsey despite playing in a much harder conference. in an off season where UL spends 20M+ on a roster, no one has them in the top 10 and some dont even have them in the top 15 yet their fanbase acts like they are the favorites to win it all.

I worked with a Cards fan from 2021-2025. When UK won the basketball la in 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 AND the football games in 22 and 23, I didn’t say a word to this person about the games.

When they beat us in football in 24 and 25, he sent me an IM bragging about it the Monday after both times completely unprompted.

When they beat us in basketball last year, he IM’d me first thing the morning after “Cards taking the rivalry back. SWEEP!”

My reply: You guys are 6-14 against us in the last 20 basketball games and you need to win the next 22 years in a row to even the series.

He did not respond.

Most UK fans lat month. "Pope is a terrible coach." I dont thinl either one has a lot to brag about so far in their careers.

Any fanbase not named Duke, Michigan or Florida who think they are a favorite to win it all are lying to themselves.
