An insane stat for Kentucky's roster...

Momcilovic's 3-point percentage (and his volume) is so high that it lifts all boats.

How much? I added up the 3s of the top EIGHT GUYS on Kentucky's roster who played last year, and took at least one three: Momcilovic, Wilkins, Diallo, McBride, Williams, Morton, N'Diaye, and Noah.

Combined, these guys shot 992 3s and made 381 -- for a percentage of 38.41 for the entire team on almost 1,000 attempts! That's really a crazy stat for an entire team.(Moreno and Kepnang took no 3s, so you really are talking about the full team minus incoming freshmen.)

That means Kentucky's entire roster shot 3-pointers, on average, at almost the same rate as Jodie Meeks, whose career percentage was 38.56 - and on more attempts than Meeks took.

And I think Wilkins, Diallo and Williams can improve, through a combination of not being a team's bail-out option and putting up bad shots (Wilkins) returning to his 2025 form before injury, which was nearly 10 percentage points higher than 2026 (Williams) and being more disciplined (Diallo.) Noah could also return to form.

I wanted to add :

With Diallo and Wilkins, Kentucky is the only other etam in Division 1 that will have 2 30%+ assist rate guards handling the ball for them next year. I think this is the one stat that will have the most impact for our team's sucess this upcoming season.

So much depends on them both making the team be the best it can be. It's not that they only bring penetration and getting to the rim possible, it is also going to be critical they are actively LOOKING for the kick out.

Iowa State was not focused as a 3 point team. They were much more defensive in thier approach with TJ Otzelberger as coach. Yet those players on his teams KNEW they should be looking for Milan at any given time. IOn kicking it out to him, they made their team lethal when Milan (and with Jefferson,too) were on.

Assists and making 10+ three point shots per game should be an offensive focus for this team. Defensively and rebounding, they will have to prove themselves as a collective unit. I think we're in pretty good shape.

Moreno needs to become a double double machine like Chinyelu for Florida, there's no reason to think he shouldn't be... Plus, we have Big Franck and McBride for size, body presence, and physicality to offset the big men they will face off against this season. Add in N'Diaye, a pro player overseas at 6'11" , and we have the bodies to throw at not only the SEC, but everyone. Not to even mention Potter.

Regardless of how everybody feels about the situation, this team has the immediate opportunity to start the season with optimism and to get started with winning from the get go. Our OOC schedule looks much more manageable and with a little momentum from the start, it can go a long way.

This is a top 15 team with the chance to be so much more.

Let's stay faithful and optimistic, There are good signs pointing to this being Pope's best season. It'll have to be, or we will need to find a coach that can win and perform to expectations.

That is the true assignment.

Let's see if this season is an exam FINAL for the ages that Pope will ace.

somewhere along the line I either read or heard that both Diallo and Wilkins when uncontested shooting a catch and shoot three are both around 40%
