Like their record away from home and against Q1, but they looked pretty impressive after their first game in the regional
FIL was a USC grad- played on the golf team in early 40’s - wish he was still around to take to these games - GO HEELS!
They have a stud pitcher with some eye-popping numbers... 1.85 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, .153 BAA. He is projected to be a 1st round pick. Of course, that didn't stop Lamar from lighting him up for 5 runs in 4.1 IP in the regional, although he may have lost focus after being staked to an early 16-0 lead.
After last year v Zona, I’ve learned my lesson about getting ahead of myself.
I was really hoping to see A&M this weekend in Chapel Hill, because USC is very good. They have great pitching and a great offense.
Either opponent was going to be tough. I don’t think either was a tier above another. Pros and cons with both.
Their offense was good this past weekend, but they’re hitting .281 on the year. Slightly below the national average for P4 teams. Also, slightly below average in runs per game.
Their offense as a whole is pretty average. Pitching is their big strength.
I wonder if we’re going to start Ryan against Edwards? Even though their quality of opponents aren’t nearly as good as ours, his stats are pretty impressive. I refuse to get my hopes up like I did last year against Arizona. I just saw that we are now the title favorites, which I don’t like. I like being the underdog.
Yeah, they did well this weekend, but for the year they weren’t above 8th in any of BA, OBP, slugging, and OPS… just in the Big 10!
Have to beat good competition at this point. No complaints by the Heels on how the bracket is falling in their favor.

Wow - USC already at RDU?? So they didn't go home first after TaM! That can't be fun... and then hotel'ing and working out where for 3 days? Do we let them use the field for a couple days? I have no idea where/ when visiting teams get in and practice before regionals/ supers...
