That’s my guess at the starting 5 if we sign him.
I think Kam is our 6th man. I also think it will be interesting to see the different lineups pope can use with this team.
I think I still am sticking with this prediction on the starting 5, but I could also swap Milan for NDiaye and have Kam in the starting line up. I think that would be a good starting five too

Williams
Diallo
Moreno
MM
Wilkins

Rotation Will Include: McBride/N'Diaye/Kepnang/Morton/Hawthorne

Competitive team if they can play Defense and Pope subs much better than last season and goes with hot hand philosophy rather than NBA regular season philosophy

I think 4 are pretty much set for the season....

Zoom
Wilkins
Milan
Moreno

I think Kam will be the other starter at the beginning of the season and it will be his to lose.

ESPN way too early too 25 puts UK at #17 with this projected starting lineup:

Zoom Diallo (15.7 PPG at Washington)
Alex Wilkins (17.8 PPG at Furman)
Milan Momcilovic (16.9 PPG at Iowa State)
Ousmane N'Diaye (9.8 PPG for Cremona in Serie A)
Malachi Moreno (7.8 PPG)

If Kam and McBee are coming off the bench, that is a really strong rotation with Big Franck making 8.

The conditioning of Kam and Moreno in the off season could be huge factors. Having a shooter at the other forward spot and Moreno capable of commanding a double would be awesome.

How do you see starters and rotation?

Here is my guess

Diallo - primary backup Morton - MWill

Wilkins - primary backup Morton - MWill (maybe Noah gets some 2G time depending on the matchups)

MMom - McBride - BHawthorne -Noah

Kam - O NDiaye - BHawthorne

Moreno - Big Franck - Potter

I just think Pope wants KWill in the starting lineup and can see the WF and PF positions on this team being interchangeable
I think you've pretty much nailed it. NDiaye and Hawthorne are going to provide some strong offense off the bench but may struggle on defensive side some.

Regardless of the starters, I like our top 7-8 players. At the end of the year, those will be the ones playing the majority of the time in the tourney. We have the talent in those top 7 to play with any other top teams, that gives us a chance for a deep run in March.

I think people are underestimating hawthrone. I wouldnt be surprised if he cracks starting rotation. If he is anything like ament from Tennessee then you would have find ways to keep him on the floor. I wont say he is next kevin Durant cause that's unrealistic but he was top 35 for reason. If he is quick enough on his feet, he has potentially be matchup nightmare.

Although I went on record as saying i think the starting 5 is :

Diallo
Wilkins
Kam Williams
Momcilovic
Moreno

I haven't seen many people in agreement, but somedo. I think that's our best starting 5. It depends on how well the chemistry is with N'Diaye and McBride ... one of them may very well be the starter, and Kam *I believe* would be fine coming off the bench as one of, if not THE BEST 6th man in college basketball next year.

Regardless of who is starting :

Diallo, Wilkins, Williams, Momcilovic, Moreno, McBride, N'Diaye, Kepnang and the rest will have their opportunities. That's a top 7 - 8 players that can compete with anyone out there. With room for some surprise breakouts and some role players on the team that can become crucial come March.

Gonna be intersting to see it all come together. It's all on Pope at this point.

For bench balance, I think it just works better of Kam comes off the bench and McBride starts at the 4. Kam backs up Momcilovic, N'Diaye backs up McBride. Kam maybe gets some minutes at the two and four, Momcilovic gets some additional minutes at the three. Lots of versatility

So he was the tallest midget last year? Saying someone could play on last years team isn’t the ringing endorsement you think it is.
I sometimes wonder what lives some have lived that they cannot accept the possibility of different people being on different development paths and that people can and do improve their crafts.

It is like not only have they not ever made strides at anything but have no first hand observations of anyone else doing so either.

I can't fathom this high a percentage of people are in situations where they maxed out day one and coast for decades from there or peaked and are slipping but able to avoid any competition for their roles.

But GOOOSEEE SAID HE COULD PLAY!!
Cuz it is unimaginable that a high 4 star can possibly ball a little bit and just needed to put a little more meat on his bones to hold up to our schedule.

Just because you are either a savant or have a super easy job so you peaked day one doesn't mean everyone else is in the same circumstances.

More realistically you are greatly improved from your baby Bambi days at whatever you do and just pretend no one else has also can make some strides.

That's the line up I believe you see to start, but I disagree on it being bad defensively. Zoom and Moreno both grade as solid or better. Wilkins was a freshman, so he should improve. McBride grades below average defensively but rebounds well, but if he stays engaged can defend. Momcilovic is bad across the board. The bench should be average to above average defensively with Kam and Kepnang both + defenders, Morton has good steal/rebound rates.

You should see a team that plays fast and uses tempo to cause turnovers. With 2 centers that erase at the rim.
While not a plus defender, I don't see Momcilovic as a traffic cone or a guy offenses will hunt all the time.

I think he will be okay though he was on a team better situated to hide him some but his defensive rating is shockingly high. It won't hold up but is in a place where he likely isn't a net negative on that side of the court, not isn't like he is coming from the Sunbelt. The Big 12 is good enough to have shown him to be a disaster.

Oh I have no doubt. I hope he does. I’m just saying putting your hopes on him is a risky gamble. Luckily now we don’t have to.

Why did you find the need to type two post out that are pretty much the same thing? I agreed with you. Sheesh.
