LOL at some of you. This is a decent get and will definitely help. We needed this so enjoy the moment. Take a breath and then start bitching about something else later.

As to Pope, the man just proved a lot of us wrong. If he wants to take one snarky photo, let him. He’s got his guy. Now he has to win.

Yeah, it's a bit of a cringey look. Whether we win or whether we lose, this thing is coming to a head this season. It's a good get, we're all glad to have Mommy's Milkers signed to sharpshoot 3s, but he isn't the missing piece to get us to winning the SEC and back to the Final Four. This roster still isn't up to UK standards. Some of y'all, just like last year, are just bound and determined to learn the hard way, yet again.

Agreed on the dorky look, but that isn't changing. I have been very critical of Pope's coaching last season and recruiting this offseason, but this just elevated the floor for this year. We have no idea what the ceiling is, Kam Williams and Braydon Hawthorne will set that. But on paper, this team is athletic, they should score in bunches, and they have skill(what was lacking last year). This is at worst a S16 roster with plenty of room to be more.
He signed a top two portal class. As frustrating as the off-season was, it worked out.

Any predictions about what this roster is fall on deaf ears. We've been fed that nonsense in the preseason for far too long. It's time to either put up or shut up.

It'll all play out this season. So far people seem to be hanging their hopes on this season being acceptable results wise on multiple "if this" and "if that" statements panning out. That rarely ever comes to fruition.
Right now this has the looks of a middle of the SEC roster. We shall see if the sum is greater than the parts.
I never said that so please don't twist my words. I didn't feel everything was stacked against them, but I did fill in the first year. He was starting from Ground Zero. And accomplished a lot of good things.. last year was a mess period.

If you are the highest bidder but it still takes you several days to get him to commit - that isnt the time to dunk on people. That's the time to humbly thank boosters for the "support" that allowed you to massively overpay a guy that will help cover up the fact you grossly mishandled the Stokes situation.
The posters complaining about paying a premium for a premium player are the same ones that say back up the brinks truck for every decent player. Same ones wanting older players over freshmen then complaining about talent. Same ones jealous Pitino got Freemen and we got Milan.
I agree and kudos to Pope and his staff in pulling this off. I didn't think they could but they proved me wrong. Im happy to be wrong because MM is a heck of a college player. Should be a fun season watching that kid bomb from long range.
Easy ignore. None of us but MM and the staff know why he waited until last night, but I’d say he let his agent to do 98% of the talking. At the end of the day, it does not matter why he waited. He’s a cat now.
Also, if you think ~6 million is overpaying for what he will do for the program, you’re out of your mind.

Just win, 100%. But until the season, predictions are all you can make. As such, Tennessee, Texas and Florida are the only SEC rosters that look better on paper. Bama needs a court to tell them Holloway isn't being locked up, Arky has no bigs. Vandy and Mizzou can be good.

Lets say you had three job offers. One is only lukewarm and offers a modest amount. Two are basically the the same but offer much more. One of those two offered you the most money.
That isn't a decision that takes days unless you just don't want to go to the top bidder. Then should the recruiter at the top bidder dunk pn people? Of course not.
Im glad we have him. Its also concerning it was such a battle especially since we missed on others where we offered the most.
Pope has earned the right to kick back and relax for a few days after last night. Our roster next year has the potential to save his job and he knows it. I've been one of his biggest critics but I'm going to shut up until the season starts and I have a new reason to be angry.

I'd say 6-8 losses. Normally I'd say win the SEC and/or SECT, but we all see what Florida has lined up this year. While I don't like conceding those to anyone, they're ours by birthright
, realistically Florida is taking them this year. IMO we should make the Sweet 16 every year. No reason for UK not to be one of the last 16 standing any year. Yes, that doesn't always happen, but it should more often than not. To me it's a baseline job requirement here. Getting past that Sweet 16 is where we start talking about success. Just getting there isnt a great season in and of itself. How the regular season goes matters too. Kinda like UK football. Not all 7-5 seasons are created equal.
