The same sad clowns will continue to cheer against Pope. They'll be miserable after every win.
Does that logically make sense? Do you REALLY believe that people invest a large portion of their life to unjustly hate Mark Pope and feel miserable when UK wins games?

I don’t think Mark Pope is UK material as a head coach, but I’m fine if you do. I hope he proves me wrong. I’ll be the happiest fan out there if he does because I love this program. But if you really believe what you said, you’re an utter fool.

Easy there Doc, if you are indeed a Doc. There have been multiple people here state that they hope we lose so Pope gets fired. As a matter of there was a whole thread full of them.
Don't be so quick to call people fools.

His statement was an insinuation that fans that don’t believe in Mark Pope just want to see the program fail. It’s the exact opposite.

That said, I’d much rather see the team go 16-16 next year and get a better coach, than to see Pope sneak into the tourney and stay on for the next 4-5 years, continuing to set the program back with early rd exits; IF I had to choose between those two options. Any competently minded fan would agree.

On the flip side, I’d much rather he prove me wrong and show that he is in fact capable of running the greatest program in college basketball history. That is the best possible outcome, and the one that gives me the most joy, and I don’t know a single fan personally that would rather see Pope fail just to prove their self right.

This is overly harsh! Pope's story as a coach is still being told. The latest update to the story is a potential talent upgrade. If he continues to fail with better talent, then he will be politely shown the door. .

There are "fans" on here like Lineskicat who literally want to cut his NIL funds so he can't get good players and will then lose so we can get a new coach. So yes, there absolutely are "fans" who actively want him to fail. Just because it sounds crazy (and it is) doesn't mean it isn't true.

It makes sense to them lol. The fact we hate losing 14 games a year is kinda weird to them.

With this great get, will everyone quit being negative and just support our team and be positive until we see what happens?
You’re kidding right? Get off his *** just because he GOT (or rather several million dollars got) a player to COME HERE! No one should get off his *** until he actually does something with what’s on his roster. Last year was one of the bigg disasters in UK basketball history…..signing a guy in the transfer portal doesn’t even begin to get me to get off Pope’s ***.

It’s his money. Plus we are all estatic we finally got an elite player. He is now like 1 for 50 on his elite player offers outside a hurt JQ who did nothing, but make us piss away 3M dollars. Just because people want actual on court changes now doesn’t make them bad fans. We still lost double digit games and got blown out a few too many times especially when it counted in his best year here so far.

Because he finally got a recruit? Lol no. He needs to prove he can do it. Luckily for real UK fans, he won’t get that chance cause we will still suck this year.

Some of you Ken's and Karen's need to change your names to Ben's and Sharon's if only just until the season kicks off and you will enjoy the summer better.

You are welcome.

The victimization mindset is everywhere now, even in this thread.

We all want UK to win. If Pope makes a Final Four next year, we'll all be thrilled.

Yet, some of you guys make it seem like our evaluation of Pope is absent of real data, as in an 11 year sample size where his winning percentages have never exceeded 75% for a single season, and the baseline percentage is just a tad bit above 64%.

Pope landed a great player, and I will give him credit for that, but we're still looking at the guy who has finished 6th and 9th in the SEC, missed on 14 straight top twenty recruits, and has been beaten down in the NCAA Tournament by 13 points and 19 points in back-to-back years.

Pope is the one who is auditioning to keep his job right now; the fans owe him little more than "wait and see" right now. We were excited about last season, too, lest we forget.

We'll all be cheering for Pope and Kentucky next year, but does that mean that Pope is exonerated for all of his failures thus far? No at all.

Pope can and hopefully will prove us all wrong this year.

This. Getting Mom at least makes next season interesting.

Now go win something that matters. Let's win the sec or sec tourney or make a final four. No excuses now for Pope.

Just curious on why you feel last year was one of UKs biggest disasters??
Both Popes classes have made it as far in the tournament as Caliparis last 4 did. He didn’t get bounced in the first round by Oakland or St. Peter’s. Last years team was disappointing but hardly one of of its biggest disasters. Since NIL became crazy. Popes last two seasons have been as good as it gets actually.
Kentucky basketball has been a bottom feeder since NIL and the Portal came into play.

Now the bottom line is seeing what Pope can do with a rotation of 8 or perhaps 9 players. His substitution pattern last season was a major issue . Will it improve. His defense was another major issue against the better teams we played. Will that still be an issue? The lack of consistent three point shooting was an issue ? Will adding MM solve the problem or will teams learn to focus on him because he is the only consistent three point threat? Only time will tell but if we lose more than 10 games and do not sniff the elite 8 or finish in the bottom half of the SEC standings then in my mind you have to make a change. Especially considering the fact that you will also be losing most of your players after the season and the recruiting issues will once again be front and center.

Pope used every foot of the runway, but he landed this recruiting season successfully. Things feel a lot better now than they did a month or so ago.
Hell, things feel better today than they did hours ago. Lol. I was preparing for a potential collapse. MM saved the season before it has begun.

Aye aye! I’m officially in full blown Pumper Mode now, at least until after the Kansas game at the Champions Classic this upcoming season!
