I just wonder if the fact that I don't like that very much or them very much makes me judgmental or just old-fashioned? The daysc of the college athlete are long gone, in my book...And we are not better off for it

Just settling a domestic squabble, thank you

If the grand old oil man mails you a check, and you say a prayer to the softball gods, then you too will end up in Lubbock.

I have to pick between Texas, Bama, and Texas Tech? Meh. I'm watching, and the games have been good today, but I can't say that I'm pulling for anyone specific.

I don’t care for Texas tech but seeing Alabama lose is kind of funny as corrupt as they are. I do know this… Texas softball is quickly emerging as the best in America. Better get used to it.

Of course the two teams we played in the WCWS are the two teams in the final. It’s the Mississippi State way.
I’m so proud of the MSU softball program. It truly is, in my view, the only team worth pulling for at MSU. As amazing as the run was… we are not close to these teams in terms of talent level. If we played Oklahoma 50 times we would be lucky to win 5 of those.

I am hopeful this run will open some eyes at MSU and start closing the talent gap with some of these teams. Sucks losing to Texas Tech and Texas and they ARE among the best the sport has to offer… however we would have likely experienced a similar outcome regardless of who we played this week.

The problem with college sports in the NIL era is not going to be these super teams, its going to be the teams that just mail it in and cash their check like Florida seemed to do in baseball and LSU did in softball.

Jerry Seinfeld was right about sports: "You're actually rooting for the clothes, when you get right down to it...Fans will be so in love with a player, but if he goes to another team, they boo him. This is the same human being in a different shirt; they hate him now. 'Boo! Different shirt! Boo!'"

A quick check of our baseball roster says we have 23 on our team this year that played for either a JC/CC or another university last year so we shouldn't throw stones living in our glass house. Our situation did involve a new coach but that's just the way its going to be from now on

That's different. I've got no problem with players transferring TO Mississippi State. And no, I don't apologize for the double standard.

How many just P4 All Americans did baseball bring in? And how many didn't come with the coach from his previous school? Big difference here because nobody is talking Juco and lower level players, we're talking top shelf players from P4 schools.

-Did you notice that I said in the original post, "our situation did involve a NEW COACH"?

-5 from the list I read were Juco's this season leaving 18 others

-As for "All Americans" would you think he would shoot low with expectations and just hope for the best from guys he brings in? Would he bring in his guys from VA to here if he thought they were going to be duds and not make it?

My question would be how many of those 8 came from other P4 conference teams? Pilfering from other teams already playing at the same level to me is a bigger deal than players than come from smaller conferences or other divisions. Those players are always looking for a chance to prove themselves at a higher level so nothing wrong with that even if they are getting some NIL. I guess I have a much more negative feeling about players already playing at the highest level but just jumping from one school to the other.

What Texas Tech did was just form an All-Star team. They picked off All-American players from other top teams by paying them ridiculous amounts of money because one of their oil billionaire booster's wife played softball at Texas Tech and they want softball to win a national championship. UCLA is one of the most decorated softball programs of all time (35 WCWS appearances, 13 national championships) and Texas Tech took one of their top players. Their million dollar pitcher came from Stanford. They are spending stupid money in softball that no other school is doing at that level. They had never even made the WCWS before last year, and now they're in the championship series two years in a row.

If yall think overpaying for softball players is bad, imagine being Tim Tadlock... having an incredible amount of success... and being given peanuts for NIL.

After looking it up, Texas Tech had only made six regional appearances in their history and no super regional appearances before last year. Mississippi State's softball program was much better than theirs before Mr. Texas oilman starting throwing his money around to buy players.

And this will continue until some type of salary cap is put on each school's "NIL". How much would TT spend on women's softball players if they knew it meant less money could be spent on football players? Its all about who has the billionaires that are interested in sports when there is no limit on pay for play.

I doubt we'll see many schools throw money at softball like this in the future. Not sure Texas Tech will either.

The Texas Tech pitcher seemed to be taunting a lot. Maybe she was just pumping up the catcher. But I don't think so.
