Dean will be in State College this weekend...all is not lost. It s a huge weekend for the staff with quite a few high end recruits on campus.
Yep, all is not lost yet. Georgia got him to listen, but they could not get a flip this past weekend. We have a shot this weekend. Like I said in the other post, I hope our relationship with him is strong enough to prevent the $$ flip. I also hope he respects the fact that we discovered him (truly) and put him on the national map.

It's simple, new football says that we better pony up. If we don't have the money, then we lose the top players. This isn't a science anymore, either you have the money or you don't.

He’s not gone yet. He has a visit to PSU this weekend. He’s probably going to show up with a new asking price. I doubt we match Georgia, but I hope we have a good enough relationship with him that we can still land him. I honestly believe Dean is probably better than both PA top WR targets. Not sure this means anything, but supposedly Spell himself is flirting with Miami a bit, so none of this stuff is solid until signing day. There are monetary tiers now, and Georgia is not at the same tier as Miami. And we are not at the same level as Georgia. Our billionaire whale unfortunately is an NFL owner with significant financial resources committed to a new stadium. We have rotten luck that our own stadium bill is siphoning donor dollars to that cause instead of NIL. We have to be the only P4 School where the billionaire whale and other big donors are financially committed to stadium causes at both the NFL and college levels!
He also owns an NHL Hockey team (Buffalo Sabres). He's probably not interested in football NIL with his support of the PSU Ice Hockey team and the stadium renovation.

That would be great and display lots of character on his part.

Top priority has to be to keep Dean committed. I agree his asking price has gone up but hopefully we can find room in the budget that is within reason. I want to land Taylor also. That would round out a great '27 WR class in my opinion.

The wheels have fallen off this thread.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

What are some key things coming up in June as far as recruits?

I know Taylor is on campus this weekend. Any indication when he will commit? Is Nebraska still the front runner?

Larry Moon CB?
Chris Whitehead EDGE?
Kyler Kuhn OL? I think we are doubtful to land him from what I have read.

Others?
It seems we are out of the running for Whitehead. We may have a shot with Moon, tons of offers but no apparent leader according to 247.

247 has a Crystal Ball for Taylor to PSU. Tom Loy is the guy projecting him to PSU. How valid is this??

Key guys visiting this weekend:

Deshawn Hall WR out of Alabama 6'5" 185. 92 composite. Visits this weekend. Bama and Tenn also in the running. We are in his top 3.

EDGE out of Indiana, Ifeanyi Emedobi, also visiting. 89 composite. Warm on us, Indiana, Michigan and Minnesota.

Zahmar Tookes DL out of Rochester 6'4" 235 91 composite. #250 nationally. Crystal ball on 247 say Florida and ON3 has him to Florida.

Does the airport need a longer runway?

I think we land Hall, who seems to really like us. Obviously we probably cannot land Hall and Taylor, and keep Dean. If we did, we have twice the amount of NIL than I thought we did. 😀

Yep, and by all accounts hockey is by far his favorite sport. Heard elsewhere that unfortunately his wife has a serious medical issue. I think PSU football NIL is not a thought in his mind right now with everything he has going on in life.

Hall has stated even after his early visits to PSU that Tennessee is his leader, and has consistantly said that for some time. One thing many of you are missing on Dean is how much of a priority is he with UGa. If he is not viewed as one of the top WRs they want, the bag you guys are so worried about may not be there. UGa is not a massive spender and if he's viewed as the third or fourth WR, they aren't throwing the money at him that many of you seem so certain they are.

Regarding Hall and Taylor. I think we are doing well to get one of them. I can't picture we will get both and I hope we don't get shut out. Nebraska appears to be throwing a lot at Taylor, he is a primary recruit for them.

Good point. Get two of the three would be great. That CB is out there for Taylor to PSU on 247 by Loy.

That CB is from March of 2025 prior to him committing to us the first time.

Alabama and Nebraska are offering a lot of money - some insiders think Nebraska is making the most serious move. From what I can gather, our insiders think he truly wants to go to PSU but it's complicated with all the changes and money being thrown around by other schools. This weekend is huge.

IMO, we're at a huge disadvantage with Bama/Nebraska getting visits after us.

There was also a crystal ball for Spell to PSU at one point and that did not work out unfortunately. CBs have been pretty accurate in the past, but with money involved now sometimes a bag gets dropped that changes the outcome. But I get it, I hope we get Taylor too. Don’t forget we also have Landon Blum, who is highly rated and the type of receiver that has killed us in big games in the past. Even if we end up with any combination of two out of Dean, Hall, Blum and Taylor it would be one of our better wr hauls in quite some time!
