I won't see it until tomorrow since I am working from home but how bad was it? It really won't bother me that much. Normal commute is 65 north to Watterson east so I don't need to go downtown and even if it is bad, the surface streets don't take much longer anyway.

For those that might be traveling through Louisville between now and July 31, I-65 north and south bound lanes are shutdown from the Waterson Expressway (I-264) to the bridge. That's about a 5 mile or so stretch.

No through traffic, not even for first responders. This is what scares me when minutes, even seconds count.

I get it though. It's either be really, really, really bad for a couple months or it being really, really bad for a couple of years. Better than waiting for the overpasses to collapse.

Honestly, it all depends on where you are and which way you're going. 65N to 264E and W was slightly backed up but not much of a hassle. It seemed to be smooth sailing for the most part.

Drove 64w to 65s Jefferson and Brooks exit, at 6:30 am. It was very light. It felt like the city was shutdown. Don't know where everybody was at.

Saw it almost every week when I was on campus. It’s a ruthless and merciless bridge
Yep the one overpass for the train by the engineering school gets a lot of action too. We used to call it the 3rd & Eastern Truck Opening Company.

Usually when they remove a downtown highway, traffic improves. Many cities have seen similar improvements, notably Seattle, Portland, and Milwaukee.

I don't go to Louisville a lot, but it seems like getting off 65 North onto Waterson can back up into 65 under normal conditions. Same with getting off the Waterson back onto 65 South. I would think 265 will get a lot of extra traffic now as well for through traffic.

Best way around that is to go past and go to the airport and it loops back around. It may be about 2 miles further to do that but it moves. You don't go near the terminal so it's fine.

Through traffic will most likely take the Gene Snyder.

Thank you for that. Gotta see the heart doctor in Louisville tomorrow. Seriously thanks.

Another one from this morning. News said that 5 trucks got stuck yesterday trying to go through a train overpass.
