If MM chooses elsewhere… anyone left?

Is there anyone left if MM chooses somewhere else? Any Euros? If I’m not mistaken, a grad transfer could still decide to enter the portal and transfer?

Or is it MM or no one? Does UK fill the last 2 roster spots with anyone?

After Momcilovic I'm not seeing a game changer left on the board and it looks like the NCAA is about to slam the door shut on our "fill the gaps with a couple foreign players" hail mary if the player hasn't dotted all their i's and crossed all their t's when it comes to their interactions with pro leagues (basically eliminating most of the ones with actual talent). It's really very sad that we're in this spot at this point.

Redwood and others that want Braydon Hawthorne to play a ton will be happy, though. We better pray he's legit and fighting fit come SEC time or things could get rough pretty quick.

The donors would likely close up shop if we miss, seeing as it would be a waste to supply Pope with anyone else.
Very good point. I wonder how much of the “rev share” that isn’t NIL/donor money they have. We were led to believe they set a good chunk of that aside specifically for Stokes but who knows.

If I had to speculate one name, without factoring in the colossal embarrassing fallout for Pope after missing on Milan, I’d probably go Cam Houindo. We know he visited him in Europe, he’s uncommitted. Honestly looks like Yaxel a bit(just younger and not as good as the Yaxel we just saw at Michigan).

The program perception isn’t great now, if Milan actually goes elsewhere…whew

Almost like lack of adequate planning, eh?
For someone we are repeatedly told is intelligent and analytical, he sure seems reactive.
Wait …so you think he planned it this way? Have you forgotten about all the players we tried hard for but whiffed on in the early stages of this process (see Stokes, Robert Wright, Muurinen, Freeman, etc.)?

This isn’t about lack of planning, instead it’s about the original plans not being successfully executed.

Hugo or Cameron Houindo would be the only 2 that I’ve seen mentioned in the past that would be anywhere near (probably better) what we need

Pope will just have to go with who he has. I believe the $ will no longer be available. Hope that Kam and Hawthorne improve greatly.

I think it’s a wrap and likely a wrap on Pope’s UK tenure after 2027 if he misses. Not that Momcilovic is going to swing a title—he’s not—but unlike Stokes, this recruitment should be a layup. He’s literally the perfect fit for Pope’s system and all sides win if he comes here. I guess picking Arizona wouldn’t be as shocking seeing they just made the Final 4–although I question the fit with Lloyd’s current roster—but if it’s Louisville? Would
be the ultimate insult and one I can’t see Pope recovering from the fallout/national perception.

I don’t get why people keep saying this should be so easy for Pope. MM can go get a ton of 3s at UL as well, and probably get nearly the same amount of money. It’s not like UK is offering $15MM and everyone else is ponying up $2MM.

Yes, what happened to all the foreign players that Pope contacted? There was a supposed superstar from France, the Russian guy, and the guy listed nearer to the start of this thread.

I don’t think it is lack of planning and more about him just failing. How many recruits (HS and portal) were we truly targeting and recruiting that went elsewhere? I don’t remember a single recruiting win this off season. I think he had a great vision of the team he wanted, he just missed in every single player.

Nothing over the weekend. So I’m thinking Pope may need to be looking. Can anyone confirm if he’s got anyone else he’s talking to?

Sadly he said he’d be staying in the 2027 class
Maybe he thought Milan was as good as signed here? (And that still may be the case), Not that I would know, but him saying that was about the time it came out we were pretty much done with him. Probably not related but just spitballing. If MM is coming I’d imagine Pope told Hampton he couldn’t sign him this season for the amount he would’ve wanted. Now if something goes wrong with MM, maybe the money is there and Hampton jumps. All in good fun here so no need to kill me. 🤣.

I’d definitely be of the mindset that you do everything you can to get him in the case Milan falls through, who needs a senior year of highschool anyways

Lol. For sure. I edited my post after you saw it. Thanks. For five Million, I’m sure he could get a nice tux and still go to prom.

If no Momcilovic ... are we looking at Oriol ... or do we have already enough shooting guards at his size ?? We probably do ... I guess ???

Kamrin Oriol, 6-foot-3 senior guard, North Florida ... his step-back range on three-pointers is pretty impressive !!!

To my view, he is what most were hoping Travis Perry and Kerr Kriisa would be like ...

One of the most prolific scorers in college basketball, Oriol is ready to make an immediate impact. As a senior, Oriol operated UNF’s offense, controlled the perimeter and rained hellfire from three-point range (40.2 percent). The former NAIA standout has an impressive ability to beat double teams, and his handles make him a pest on offense. Oriol blossomed as a distributor at UNF and could play the one or two at a new program.
Like the other guards on this list, he’s an inconsistent defender and sometimes struggles to impact winning.
