Two games against the same opponent (in the regular season)

Compiling the schedule for this year, I see that Proviso East and Proviso West both have an opening in Week 1. They play each other Week 2 at West. In theory they could fill this hole by just playing each other in Week 1 at East. Obviously there are issues with that, but it could be a solution.

I know that for the last few years, LaSalle-Peru and Ottawa played each other in nonconference, in addition to their later conference game. In the early 2000s, the Four Rivers conference featured five conference games and four nonconference games; all the nonconference games were against other conference teams, so you played four teams twice in the regular season. Does anyone remember this occurring otherwise, at least in the relatively recent past? (I don't mean teams seeing each other in the playoffs again; that's common.)

A few years ago, Wilmington and Lisle played twice in the regular season. I believe both had week 2 opponents that backed out/canceled their seasons…

All.... While this situation does come up on occasion I believe many coaches try to avoid it. The thought being one team more often then not is a favorite and the possibility of losing to the same team twice especially if they are in the same conference is a bit much. Bragging rights and what not....

Not the situation with these two teams. The Pirates in the WS Gold and the Panthers WS Silver but they are close to each other in terms of proximity. Both schools have had tough times when it comes to high school football. Fwiw Massey have the Panthers winning 32-14. (81%)

I had to look it up but I vaguely remembered a gent who played for the U of I and who coached for the Panthers. Not on how well he did or didn't but his unique name. Yes sir Famous Hulbert! Ratsy

DVC did this recently prior to the SouthWest Valley.
Wasn't that a "bowl game" in Week 9; i.e. they would determine those matchups based on how the first 8 weeks went? Maybe I'm crazy but I really seem to remember that.

They had that too. But I also think they had the rivals play each other 2x ie NC v NN, WV v NV, then MV and Dekalb by default. But I could be mistaken in old age
