-Baseball team: 32-21 (13-17) in conference.
-Softball team: 26-29 (1-23) in conference.
-Football team: 5-7 (2-6) in conference.
-Basketball team: 22-14 (10-8) in conference.
-Women’s basketball team: 25-11 (8-8) in conference.

Just unbelievably mediocre across the board although the women’s team at least made the sweet 16. It’s amazing not one of those teams on campus is elite. Most teams have at least one. A small monthly donation of $65 to BBN United though can net you a zoom with these coaches and some merch!

That may literally be the worst ninth inning I’ve ever seen. It truly had it all for a meltdown to blow a game between the leadoff error on a weak grounder, the 4 pitch walk with the bases loaded, and a balk with the tying run on 3rd. That meatball that got taken yard practically felt inevitable by then. Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow, but this one stings a lot more than a typical loss from this spot in the bracket.

Glad I opted to stay at work instead of watching. I’m not a baseball guy but have been watching it more and would have still hated to see our Cats fold! Gotta get after it tomorrow!

It’s so hard to watch the college game.
Even high school is a better product.
College baseball is one of few sports left that is close to what College sports used to be. You can get a season ticket for a $124 and see a lot damn good teams and players from across the SEC. That is about the price of a decent ticket at Rupp to see 1 game. It is like baseball at any level. Teams are running out their 3rd and 4th starters at this point so it usually comes down to has the most pitching.

Or who has a 3rd baseman who can catch a routine ground ball.

Lmk what you would’ve done differently
Would have put Cerny in for Cloud in the 9th. Cloud is fielding sub .900, booted a ball yesterday, got caught looking twice and is a freshman over his head. If I was stubborn enough to leave him in, I sure as hell would have hit for him in the 9th. Would not have brought Boone in since I didn’t have confidence in him to use in the past 13 games/30 days. Would not have sent Hansen into a play at the plate where he was out by 25-30 feet.

He made a defensive substitution in the OF but left the worst fielder on the team in the game. A fielding percentage of .884 and batting average of .204 screams late inning substitution.

Mingione brings in a dude who hasn’t pitched in a month, and sucks anyway. Genius.
Yesterday, he had us bunting with 2 outs & a runner on 3rd in a close game. He routinely takes the bat out of his best hitters’ hands in his crusade to manufacture gimmicky runs at every opportunity.

He’s obsessed with bunting & no hitter OR situation is off limits. Countless times he’s had the middle of the lineup bunting with RISP & it doesn’t matter how many outs there are šŸ˜‚. I don’t think he’s ever passed on the chance to squeeze home a run, either.

At times, I seriously question if he ever played baseball, at any level, before he got into coaching. And, it’s not a given to me that he even watched a game, based on his ā€œstrategiesā€, which are more aligned with 10-under girls softball than D1 baseball. It’s cheap & cringe.

He’s bush league personified, IMO. And, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was mocked & disliked by most other SEC managers. He kinda wipes his a$$ with the integrity of the game & a lot of guys, especially old timers, don’t appreciate it.

I think you summed it up quite well.
