Inside Info: Today I found out why we're struggling to land recruits (Pope's recruiting transcript inside).

A source close to the program found this transcript of what Pope is telling recruits in his Zoom meetings. Evidently this is from the last two Zoom meetings, almost word for word:

"Make up your mind
Decide to walk with me
Around the lake tonight
Around the lake tonight
By my side
By my side
I'm not gonna lie
I'll not be a gentleman
Behind the boathouse
I'll show you my dark secret
I'm not gonna lie
I want you for mine
My blushing bride
My lover, be my lover, yeah
Don't be afraid
I didn't mean to scare you
So help me, Jesus
I can promise you
You'll stay as beautiful
With dark hair
And soft skin, forever
Forever
Make up your mind
Make up your mind
And I'll promise you
I will treat you well
My sweet angel
So help me, Jesus
(Hey, hey, hey)
Give it up to me
Give it up to me
Do you wanna be
My angel?
Give it up to me
Give it up to me
Do you wanna be
My angel?
Give it up to me
Give it up to me
Do you wanna be
My angel?
So help me
Be my angel
Be my angel
Be my angel
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
Well, I promise you
I will treat you well
My sweet angel
So help me, Jesus
Jesus
Jesus
Jesus"

Not sure what’s weirder: the 30 year old one hit wonder band reference or the fact that I just looked it up and they are touring and will be in Louisville in Sept lol
One hit wonder for the uninitiated. The Toadies rock. That whole Rubberneck album hasn't a bad song on it. I always got a laugh out of those that thought the song Tyler was some sort of slowish love song. Those same people felt the same about Every Breath You Take.

They are touring, missed them in ATL a few weeks back. Last year they played the Rubberneck album live (in order) during their shows.

I grew up going to Possum Kingdom Lake in North Texas. PK might be their biggest hit, but you are darn right that album is solid from top to bottom!

I'm glad I clicked on this thread or else I would've never known they'll be in Louisville later this year. I may have to check that show out as I've never seen them.

Set list looks solid! They have been closing the main set with “Tyler“ and closing the encore with “I Burn”.

They were in Chicago tonight, about an hour from me. I missed it because I had to take someone to the airport. :(

Rubberneck is an incredible album. From what I understand, The Toadies got screwed by their label.

Looks good. The Wife and I were talking about concerts earlier today.
We always try to hit a few every year. Unfortunately I'll be missing The Toadies. They'll be at Louder Than Life. We're already going Thursday and Sunday to Bourbon and Beyond.

Yeah just speaking by radio/MTV metrics. My brother was more into them than I was. They seemed like a band that got lumped into a category they weren’t actually in.

Yeah I knew where you were driving at.
They were kind of punk rockish in the mode of The Pixies who they are heavily influenced by. They've had some albums after Rubberneck just not as good.

My memory of their other songs is probably foggy but they always gave off a vibe to me of a less sludgy Melvins.

This thread is forcing me to give that a re-listen I think.
