UCLA was for real but they peaked way too soon. They lost 8 games all year and two of them came in the regional. UCLA swept the USC team that just destroyed aTm last night and beat Oregon 3/4 and they are in the super regional round.

During the ACC tourney they talked about how Pitt had more Quad 1 wins than UCLA going into the Pitt vs UNC game...
I’ve clamored on this board since March thst UCLA would probably lose its own regional. They had some fantastic pieces, but when you play a B10 schedule, you’re going to run into arms much, much better eventually.

UCLA reminded me alot of our 2013 team. Peaked very early, held on to the 1 seed but obviously wasn’t playing its best baseball at the end of the year. Their last 6 games, they went 4-2 with 4 walk off wins, they were just playing with fire and even the super soft regional couldn’t get them through

It doesn't not break my heart at all to see UCLA lose, but in some fairness, they did lose their Friday night starter after he'd gone 8-0 in a pretty dominating fashion (low ERA, tons of K's, WHIP under 1.0). To put that in perspective, that would have been like Jake Knapp going down after an 8-0 start last year--would have been a major kick in the teeth.

Born, raised and lived in the South my entire life, so you know how I feel. Figure out the Olympic sports and get on the next SEC train smokin'.

Not only that. They had multiple position players out as well. Injury bug bit them at the worst time possible.

They were elite this year. You don't go 51-6 on accident
