Like I said last week we’re one bad start from DeCaro or Lynch away from being in a really dicey situation. We might get away with it against ECU but routinely having only one or two reliable pen arms and burning them at any early chance just sets you up for struggles in a regional/Omaha format or in a super against a good team.
Every team in the country is in a dicey situation with a bad start from one of their two aces

Why does it matter? You’re asking who is able to do it. Why does it matter if he did it last year or this year? The fact is he can do it. Regular season stats are good and all but it’s to the point now you got to find guys that are going to produce. Not saying Coop should be benched forever just saying he needs a reset.

So we move Gavin to 3rd and make ourselves worse at 2nd when we have one of the best DP combinations in the country. Genius.

Disagree, there are teams in the top 8-16 that have more depth in their pen and overall staff than we do than can absorb bad situations better. We have four absolute horses but it feels like we have no confidence in anyone else to fill meaningful innings.

If ECU scores 3 in the bottom of the ninth last night then we’d be at home watching supers because of our lack of depth and how we managed game 1. That’s just what concerns me moving forward. Hopefully we don’t have to dig too deep.

We literally lost a national championship when we decided to change up our infield alignment “brother”

Real programs don’t bench a top-3 OPS guy on their roster because of 7 ABs. This is baseball, elite players fail over 60% of the time.
Let’s just hope he gets out of his funk quick. Because the pitching isn’t going to get easier from here on out.
