8:48 a.m. II Eights C Final (places 13-18)

9:36 a.m. Fours Grand Final (places 1-6)

10:12 a.m. I Eights Petite Final (places 7-12)

The part about Stanford is somewhat misleading. Stanford was actually in the lead most of the way, but something happened in the last few hundred meters, and their boat sort of stopped dead. Thought I heard the commentator say somebody cramped, but not sure.

We were heading for 5th place before that happened.

Still a terrific finish for the RU squad.

That's true. That said we dont get many lucky breaks so I'll take it regardless.

"Caught a crab." A rowing term (I had heard it mentioned before but had to look it up) referring to the rower losing control of the oar. Can happen when a rower's technique breaks down when rushing and the oar gets caught in the water and flips around. Apparently can't really fight it and have to wait for the flow of the water to pull the oar back into position. So less something freak like a cramp and more a mental mistake like a receiver running a wrong route leading to a pick 6.
