Such as his wife and doctors?

Or maybe they gave him the go-ahead, despite the board doctors knowing otherwise sight-unseen.
Yes, such as those. And you know, I gotta appreciate your snark. It's always in the right spot for no reason.

I will believe it when I see it. Then again I won't pay for it, or watch it if It was offered for free. Ben has hardly looked like his more normal self ultil the past month or so and that's a stretch. Maybe he walks out and only shakes hands, but my favorite Ben Askren matches are all in the past. Permanently.

He has to have medical clearance, which means his grafts are deemed medically healthy as well as his surgical sites. His rehab started with walking, then more walking, and then more walking. He probably started running, then eventually tried rolling around. Just a guess, but if he has been training those new lungs the way he should he is probably in the best cardiovascular shape. He takes immunosupression medications which means he is safer wrestling on a clean wrestling mat versus digging in dirt gardening in his back yard.

I am excited for him. He isn't going to be a 23 year old world class athlete, but he is a double lung transplant recipient going out on a stage to complete. God bless him, and go Ben go.

I'm confused about Ben though - didn't he say his ribs are basically plaster? One strong squeeze could actually kill him.

This makes no sense.
It has been 11 plus months since he received his transplant. His ribs were probably healed 3 or 4 months post surgery. As long as his grafts are healthy he is good to rock and roll.

I had an uncle who got a single lung at 70 years of age. Every time he got a little lazy I would show up and we would hike Mt Nittany, or i would take him up some other central PA mountain hike. At his peak, he had that single lung at about 190% capacity.

IMO, he will be fine.

Askren is not as tough as your uncle.

On the flip side, how would you feel if you were the person facing him on the mat? Gotta mess with your head.
