I wish I could say that. Lol.

Only one yellow card as a coach. Only for defending my player getting lit up though.

After hearing some of these stories though, there are some psycho coaches and parents. Probably why every ref has the thinnest skin ever and are on hair triggers.
I don't know how they even get refs anymore. "Here is 70 dollars to get yelled at by some crazy parents for the next 90 minutes...during a 10 year old game"

Sports radio spot said they (USSSA) suspended the Oklahoma 11U coach for life. The pitcher, who happened to be the coach's son, is suspended for 5 years.

Not sure how those bans relate to other tournament hosts outside USSSA, but justified consequence for the dad/coach.

Suspending the kid 5 years for following the lousy dad's directive is questionable and steep in my opinion.

Why the kid knew it’s wrong. He literally could have severely injured another kid . Actions have to have consequences.

Because he's 11 and doesn't process situations like you and I do as adults.
Watch his reaction on the mound as soon as he fired the ball into the dugout he immediately turned away. He processed the situation just fine .

An 11 year old kid will almost always obey and back down from a dad, especially in a competitive situation in front of people.

Of course the kid knew it was wrong but was probably fearful of what would happen if he disobeyed and didn't throw it. That dad/awful coach is obviously a lunatic.

The kid should have consequences, but context matters too.

Of course he was fearful and yes the dad is a lunatic. My post was only to disagree with @Husker058 who said he didn’t process the situation.

Are you believing I meant he didn't / couldn't process the situation at all? Clearly, that's not what I was saying.

What is a Showcase? My friend was telling me his son wants one. He also told me the kid doesn’t start, isn’t very coachable and doesn’t like to practice. He does want the showcase though because that’ll move the needle.
So the college showcase is a two-way scam and I am so ******* mad that I did not think of it!

Scam One: All the select coaches decide to charge the parents even more money to send the teams to a (vacation) location where a bunch a other select teams will be playing.

Scam Two: The college coaches attend (for a free vacation on the schools dime) and pretend to watch these kids all day long for 3-4 days but really they are just on vacation for free.

I am sure he could...my guess is he is scared of his batshit crazy Dad though. Clearly his Dad is a POS parent/coach/person and more than likely is horrible to his kids and that kid probably walks on egg shells at home.

Exactly. The kid obviously knew it was wrong, but what you and others have explained, the kid was scared of his dad.

That's why I think the mindset of, "Sure it makes sense for the kid to get banned for 5 years makes sense. Punishment fit the crime" doesn't make sense to me.

Why are 11 year olds from Nebraska playing in Oklahoma and then in Des Moines ...seems like there are enough local options
Because their parents are insane. It is like I say over and over...adults LOVE to say "Kids these days" but it is the ******* parents that ruin **** and act different.

Kids are kids. They always will be the same. They don't give a **** if they are playing 20 games in a season vs the same 10 teams with kids that they know from their school or a school near them.

They don't give a **** about traveling 400 miles to play a stupid little league game. In fact, most of them probably don't even want to do that.

There was a South Park episode many years ago about the little league World Series and how each of the teams were trying to lose so they could go on and have their summer playing and swimming etc.

From what I hear, the Nebraska coach is also a next-level douche.

Not saying anyone deserved that weird *** deal, but I’m just saying there might be some context.
It is really simple...would any of those select coaches do it for free?

No, of course not.

Yet somehow rec ball coaches do it all for free and SOMEHOW kids still played in high school, still played in college and some still make the MLB.

Travel Ball, Select Sports, Club Sports.

That is what is going on. I have said it so many times, it is all so stupid.
Back in the 80's in Nebraska, there was the Vegas team for high school basketball and the Omaha Gladiators baseball development program. Maybe a few others. Then as time went on, people realized that parents will spend money getting their kids on these teams. People realized that it was profitable to run tournaments and club teams. So club sports was born. It's the same as little league except parents are paying coaches, paying for travel and tournament entry fees. The disadvantage of little league is that kids of below average ability also get to participate and parents have to attend graduation parties and family functions on weekends.

Coaches in hs seem to be as wild. That Skutt coach lost his mind screaming at the umps after his team WON the state championship
Many of the HS coaches at the "religious" schools ARE club coaches. It helps with the recruiting and since they don't pay teachers worth a crap they don't attract great coaches-- other than a ****** teacher who just wants to win so they get hired at a place like Skutt.

Yep!

Had a buddy that would spend 10k a year for travel soccer. His kid hardly played his senior year.
I read an article a few years back about a family with three "elite" soccer boys. The kids had no college savings account and the family was barely making ends meet after all of the soccer expenses. They were banking on full ride scholarships. Not sure what the parents' plan was for retirement savings, but I guess that's a problem for another day?

I am quite confident this OK 11 coach and team was kicked out of a tournament where I live earlier this year for threatening to hit an opposing player in the head (sound familiar?) and challenging the opposing coach to a fight in the parking lot. Assuming it was the same team, no doubt that prior played into the severity of the ban.

As this isn't my first rodeo, I can also safely surmise the NE team was yelling, screaming, and being obnoxious and bush league during the pitches, which contributed to the environment.

Most competitive coaches aren't paid a penny.

Not just the private schools I believe the head Girls coach at Omaha North is a club coach that’s how she got the transfers from Westside and a couple others.

It’s travel select. There’s an abundance of trashy bush league to go around.

I'll disagree with you here assuming our definition of "select ball" is the same.

Those Millard United, UBA, EAA, etc A, AA, AAA & most (all?) Majors teams coaches are doing it for free.

At least ours better be. I'll be pissed if some of my dues are going towards our coach. Only because I wouldn't have known about it.

There is some truth to this. Not really the pay part, that has changed a ton of the years.

Attracting coaches is hard though, mostly because at the HS level you will get like 5K to coach a varsity sport. But you end up putting in so many hours that it comes to almost nothing.
