Here’s the actual OD data.

It is delayed about 5-6 months so cause of death can be attributed. No one is making anything up or hiding bodies.

The big rise hit during Covid and peaked a couple of years ago. Deaths were down to 80K ish when Biden left, have dropped another 10K or so since Trump.

It’s certainly dropped, and things are actually looking better on some city streets. But I’m pretty confident they are undercounting the overdoses by a somewhat significant amount. A lot of “unhoused deaths” that are just not getting detailed autopsies and tox reports. I don’t blame cities for passing on doing those tests. If there is no criminal investigation involved, it probably doesn’t make sense.

More to learn as in "Allred is a mediocre black man"? Wow that is devastating especially when combined with the picture of him using a napkin to eat a rib.
Are we banking on Texas women to save the guy that refers to them as "neighbors with a uterus"?

First post-runoff poll from Texas.

Talarico - 47
Paxton - 44

Holy Christ this poll is an abject disaster for Kenny P. Not the numbers, but what’s happening under the hood. Cornyn voters don’t like Paxton because of “criminality” (not my words, the words of those polled).

This is officially an uphill battle for Republicans. Hispanic voters are mad because Trump hasn’t focused on cost of living (those tariffs working beautifully and Iran isn’t helping matters) and centrists think Paxton is a crook.

What I need is DumbCoach to post another far rightist’s tweet about what a ***** Talarico is (not untrue, the only voters who care are in the tank for Paxton), and everyone will feel better.

It is going to be a fun 6 months.
