I’ve been a lifelong Knicks fan but Rutgers fandom > Knicks fandom for me now. I struggle with how I can root against Dylan Harper if they play the Knicks. This caliber kid coming here (along with Ace) is something we probably won’t see in our lifetimes. For this reason I guess I have to go with the Spurs / Dylan over the Knicks if this happens.

How long is lifelong? You gotta be kidding me, how many years have you waited for the possibility of a KNICK championship? Anywho, LET'S GO KNICKS!! Do it for #19 hanging from the rafters
Anybody going out to see some of the games? Where about?

Since I started watching basketball around 1991 or so. I’m 42

Knicks - it's been 27 years since a finals appearance and over half a century since a championship. If its the Spurs in the finals then hope Dylan plays well, scores a lot but the Spurs lose every game.

Knicks haven't won a title since before I was born, so Knicks all the way, but Dylan have great games. They blew a couple of titles in the Jordan yrs, six, and the Jordan baseball years, two. Been a fan since just before the Knicks drafted Patrick Ewing. So, it's long overdue winning a title for this franchise.

The bars will be fun and rocking if the Knicks are winning. I love Dylan but the Knicks winning the NBA Championship would be massive for the tri-state area.

Hopefully, the Spurs win tonight and push OKC to a 7th game.

Last Knick title win, I was sitting at my fraternity house bar, enjoying the game with frat brothers
A big Knick fan sitting next to me slapped me,on the back every time the Knicks scored, he being quite drunk as we went along

Me, I was not far behind him, so the pain was not that apparent till later

Good times

I was at that game - but missed the dunk as my face was in a box of popcorn.

Having not seen the dunk with my eyes - I still have an audio memory of the crowd gasping in anticipation and then exploding as I, taking my head out of the popcorn, asked “What’s happening?”
I have framed photo poster of the Dunk autographed by Starks

I get what people are saying as far as waiting so long for the Knicks to win something. Pre Rutgers, this would be a no brainer as I idolized Ewing, starks, Oakley as a kid. Post Rutgers, while I still consider myself a Knicks fan, I can’t help but view this as Rutgers vs nova. All my Nova friends are now Knicks fans even if they weren’t before.

Generally, post RU, while I still follow my pro teams (Knicks, giants, rangers, yanks), my interest has waned vs college sports. So I can’t believe I’m saying this as I’ve gone my entire life without the Knicks winning a championship, but go Dylan, beat the Knicks.

Is this a joke? Com’on man lol!!! If you’re a lKNICKS fan you’re a KNICKS fan. If you’re gonna root for the Spurs, just because of Dylan Harper, I’ll buy you a ******* Spurs hat and you can change your fandom now and forever.

Ridiculous.
Agree. Any real Knick fan is laughing at the thought of giving two sh*ts about Dylan Harper in the NBA Finals.

Exactly. Listen, I want nothing but the best for the kid, however, this is the NBA finals. Even if the Knicks had won the last 5 titles I’d still be rooting for the them lol!!!

Harper was a one and done for RU on a team that sucked. Let’s have some perspective here.

In a way I can agree with what you;re implying

I'll root for Dylan and Ace to do well, like I root for every ex RU player.
They went pro and not jumped ship to another College program.
So even though they might not have stayed, they had a good excuse for leaving after only 1 year.
Though I want them to do well in the pro game, the team I root for to win comes before them looking good when they play the NBA team of my choice or the team they're on playing a game against a team I want to win.
I haven't been a Knick fan in a long time, but UI want NY to beat the Spurs and if that means Harper 's play doesn't help San Antonio , so be it.

There is not another collegiate fan based on the planet where this would even be a question.

Not sure what you mean.
Its should be an easy root for Dylan over the Knicks?

In the 2020 bubble playoffs the Lakers played the Rockets.
All the Lakers/USC fans rooted for the Rockets and James Harden?
Instead of the Lakers?
I find that hard to believe.

I thought it was very clear what I was saying but I’ll try again:

Do you thanks San Antonio Spurs fans, who went to Villanova, are rooting for the Knicks? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

It’s a question that actually has me shaking my head every time I open this thread.
