Could you imagine Kentucky beating Alabama on CBS?
Got goosebumps just imagining how that would feel. Man, I really think we're in a good spot here. While really talented, Bama has some questions this season. Breaking in a RS Frosh QB with his first road start against a pressure defense in front of a raucus crowd is tough anywhere. This fan base is set to explode with some football success.

I'm going to be honest. I like football a lot better than basketball. I will occasionally even miss my beloved Kentucky basketball to watch my local hs team if they have a big game. I've been looking for any reason to get fully on board with UK football. Except for a few very rare occasions, it's been extremely difficult to go all in with the football program. I think I'm finally there now. I've always said you can tell a coach has elite potential almost immediately, and I honestly get that feeling from Stein. He's young and will make some rookie mistakes, but I really look forward to seeing what he can achieve here. Very excited for the season...I couldn't always say that

Why wouldn't people take your taste as honest? Most people agree. Look at TV ratings. Look at Fridays nights in the Fall. What is surprising to me is that some prefer hoops. Relatively simple and soft game vs. FB.

I’m right there with you brother. I, like many here grew up listening and watching Kentucky Basketball from our baby beds. lol. I’ve been a die hard Basketball fan all my life and I always will love my Basketball Cats, but the last 20 years I’ve just fell in love with football. I love everything about the game, how hard it is to actually win a SEC game, the amount of people it takes to actually run a program, from the cooks that feed the guys everyday, to the guys and gals who are there everyday wrapping up our boys and making sure they’re rehabbing correctly!

Really, it’s almost impossible for anyone not in the big boy club to beat a top ranked team and we’ve actually gave a good fight more often than not. Win or lose it’s just a one of the best times going to watch the Cats on a Saturday, tailgate and eat some good food with friends and people you’ve never met but would fight a bear for after just a few minutes. lol.

Having Will and this Staff coming in here and bringing the excitement they have is something I thought could happen but didn’t know if the powers that be could make the right hire. They sure hit a home run and I can’t wait to see how it plays out. If these Quarterbacks play like his has in the past,( I have no doubt they will be awesome), more and more of the bigger , stronger, faster, big time kids will start believing In Kentucky and the sky will be the limit. I’ve wrote a book again so sorry everyone. lol. I can’t quit when I get started.

True on all points.

The honesty part was me basically admitting I haven't always been the biggest UK football fan despite really liking the sport. Just never had the same connection due to the complete lack of success. I probably didn't explain that properly originally. I'm definitely not a bandwagon fan, because I've gone to games I knew they would lose. Just harder to enjoy when you aren't winning enough. Think that changes soon

Most fans would feel different if we were Bama, Georgia and Ohio States of the world. We sure had the chance to be one of those teams had we went all in to Keep Bear Bryant and done whatever it took to make him happy here. I’m sure those teams are, or at least used to be jealous of Kentucky Basketball, but for the football fans that’s a hard pill to swallow. It’s just hard to play catch up with all their history and the money that has come from being a top Football program, but I’m happy about where we’re going for sure.

Bear was an Alabama guy. I doubt anything could have stopped that train going home to Tuscaloosa eventually.

He also said he loved it here to, but the deal with making Rupp feel like a priority over him made him feel unwanted. Back then we should’ve offered soo much money his wife would've checked him in to the loony bin if he even thought about leaving. We had two of the greatest coaches in the history of the games and whatever it took to keep both, the payoff would’ve been mind boggling. I hear what you’re saying, but just imagine us being the top dog with the 120,000 seat stadium. lol. It is what it is though, but is a beautiful dream.

Even Bama and Georgia can’t keep up with Ohio state in spending.

The last best chance we had was not hiring Schnellenberger when he had the chance.

I agree! Stein has the “IT” factor that most elite coaches have.

I was there when Andre Woodson threw that TD to Stevie in double OT to take down number 1 LSU on CBS game of the week. So yes I can imagine it.
It was that game or Florida the following week and I chose to go to the Florida game. That was a fun season but started going south when down at Mississippi State. Hopefully those inconsistencies that have plagued us forever will fade into the rearview.

Atmosphere will be off the charts.

As others have said I do miss the SEC on CBS too. Much better broadcast product.

You know rick64, was thinking the same thing from two years ago - the South Carolina game was a 3:30p ABC slot and that game was saturated with rocket fuel needing only a match - instead, the team decided to puke and piss and you got a 4 touchdown *** whipping by Beamer at home on national tv.

That was the last game I attended (due to years of misery and that game just happened to piss me off the most) but this game with Bama will be my next. Hoping the atmosphere is what you suggest and the outcome is better!
