Tallahassee, Fla., May 26, 2026 — A bizarre recruiting mishap may have cost Florida State a coveted five-star prospect, as the top defensive end reportedly committed to Alabama after his official visit vehicle was towed from campus. The elite 2027 recruit, who was being heavily pursued by Mike Norvell and the Seminoles, saw his luxury SUV towed during a scheduled tour, leaving him and his family frustrated and without transportation for several hours. According to sources close to the recruit, the incident left a sour impression and raised questions about organization and attention to detail from the FSU staff. The prospect ultimately committed to Nick Saban and Alabama, citing the program’s championship pedigree and professionalism. “It was disrespectful,” a family member told reporters. “Alabama treated us like family from the start.” The embarrassing episode comes at a challenging time for Norvell, who is under pressure to keep elite talent in-state and close the gap with SEC powers. Florida State’s recruiting staff declined to comment on the towing incident. #FSUTowed #5StarProspect #MikeNorvell #NickSaban #SECpowers

Ranks right up there with somebody punching Andy Kennedy while a band was playing at the Pike house during his recruiting visit. Just to clarify, this was not an International Incident - that happened 20 plus years later in Cincinnati.

To be fair, Andy probably deserved to be punched.

This was a recent interview recounting an incident that happened years ago. It does highlight the predatory towing that takes place in college towns and Starkville is no exception.

Predatory towing, sounds like people don't want to follow the rules so they are mad when they can't break them without consequences.

I got a ticket for passing on a bridge... it was wide open nothing coming safer than freak but a Hwy Patrol gave me a ticket for passing on bridge.

Am I mad because no one enforces it and this dude could have given me a warning and had been effective. Yes! Predatory? No. Its' a violation in the case of parking in the wrong spot.
