“I’ll bring the rope?” Sean Woods is obviously black.

If these allegations are true, IF they are true, then Woods is just an abhorrent piece of s**t and deserves the worst that the justice system could throw at him. But that phrase above? You don’t say that.
You don’t think pedos should be hung for the public to see no matter their race? It was fairly obvious he meant the punishment toward his transgression and not anything remotely related to race. Nobody can say Cowboy and I are BFF on here either.

Technically it’s just about the on court accomplishments. Nobody could predict what they would do later in life. It should have no bearing on it. Two separate things imo. Sad they are like this.
Except neither were remotely qualified for on court accomplishments either. Farmer was a glorified scrub, and Woods only marginally better.

If UK wanted to do something special to commemorate that class, then it should’ve put just one thing up representing the group as a whole. The decision to separately do it for each and every one of them was poorly thought out and now looks quite stupid in retrospect.

Woods did hit what would have been the best shot in our history probably had we guarded Laettner or had he been ejected like he should have.

Worked with Woods for a small amount of time in the 90's.
Let's just say meeting an unforgettable quickly became something I wanted to forget.
Just because you wear a UK jersey at some time in your life does not mean you are an honorable or good person.

Just like their coach

Oh my gosh dude...who is turning this into race??? That would be YOU! I said watch Lonesome Dove for a reference, maybe you should have. They hung four white dudes for stealing horses and killing people.
I said "If a PERSON is found guilty of any sexual act or conduct with a minor"...I don't care if the person looks like Sean Woods or Reed Sheppard or Yao Ming or Eduardo Najera...same rope, or if you prefer, whatever method of castration you like. But it doesn't have one damn thing to do with color. Do better dude
I love that Eddie Najara made a cameo in this! 😂 Well done!

I’m reluctant to venture into this mess. And I know you didn’t mean it this way.

But anyone well versed in American history should know that “I’ll bring the rope” is never ever an appropriate thing for a white man to say about a black man accused of sexual harassment.

You’d be better off just acknowledging “oops, I chose my words poorly” then continuing to try to defend the line.
Not everything is about race. I think most of us realize he didn’t mean it in a negative racial tone. I took it as - throw the book at a guy that was using his position and authority to groom young girls. Sickening situation

If these allegations are true, that dude needs to see the inside of a prison cell for at least a decade.

UK has to cut ties. If you’re in your 50s and trying to bang high school kids, you should go from unforgettable to forgotten.

Disregard - thought it was at college. 10 years still feels excessive.

No way. Intent means something. You said you knew I didn't mean it that way which I absolutely did not. I went to Booker T Washington in Hopkinsville after my family home in Crofton burned down when I was 10. Every friend I had was black, my best friend was Lynn Suber who went on to play hoops at Texas A&M. We played one on one year round. I seriously doubt there is a person that sees color less than I do on this board. I certainly won't apologize for something that I absolutely had no thought of
Of course you went "my best friend was black." You people are so utterly predictable.

From Travis Ford being a sanctimonious jerk to Winston Bennett having a voracious sexual appetite that cost him his career to Derrick Miller and Ed Davender selling bogus UK tickets and scamming people to Ritchie Farmer giving his girlfriend a $65,000 a year job she didn't have to show up for(without merit) as well as other improprieties in his governmental position. Could go into lots of other stuff that was covered up and swept under the rug. Par for the course.

LMAO, Lynn was a big star at Hopkinsville before playing at Carl Albert and TAM. Popular dude, why don't you look up his snap and ask him if his best friend was the white boy he used to beat in 21 eight or ten times a day? And I didn't just randomly through out that my best friend was black, I said it after I was accused of a racist comment which obviously wasn't about race. So by "you people", I am assuming you mean educated non trolls, unlike yourself

Whether you intended it or not still a poor choice of words, but like your cult leader, never apologize for anything is the philosophy. I'll definitely but my "education" up against yours. Especially in the subject of history

This has been my issue for years. You might be able to make a case for Pelphrey and Feldhaus. Farmer is the only bench player in history to make the rafters, Woods is top 5 in all-time assists but also scored less than 1000 points.

I would like to know how many retired jerseys failed to reach the 1000 points club.

I like the idea to honor them as a group instead of as individuals, especially because people kind of overlook the fact that without Mashburn averaging 21 and 8, the 92 team is a bubble team at best.

I, too, have said that in the past because he was, but it feels wrong to say it now. I don't know why skin color, race, sexual orientation, disability, any of that is mentioned as some sort of qualifier or context. It feels judgemental.

People were just so happy that Kentucky survived the probation and was back that they honored the guys who stayed. I agree it would’ve been better to honor them as a group. I don’t know if you were around at that time or was old enough to know what was going on, but they were considered heroes back then for their loyalty when they could’ve bailed like other better players did.
