Can we start an Belgian A5 thread, I too have quite a collection. Have to include pre-1968 or 62 supreposed O/U, especially .410 and 20 guages. My dad passed in December and I began at the old fieldhouse watching Chris Cambell, Chuck Yagala, and Scottt/Mark Trizzino etc. You're my kinda Iowan.

I wrestled 2-10 grade living in Burlington. Moved to Spfld, MO. 2 time state qualifier in Missouri (Yes I know nothing like Iowa) and wrestled for a bit DII at NE Mo St (Truman St). Used to love Iowa wrestling, now love wrestling and Iowa is waining with me under Brands. Feels like Zaleskey and we can't recruit at elite level, exspecially after losting Bassett Now Iowa will be tortured for next 5 years with what could have been.
A "Gun models I own that were invented and/or designed by John M Browning" thread would be great!
Nothing beats a 20 gauge round knob long tang Lightning Superposed imo.

I feel like I’m being racially profiled……

- my username is my training center in GA Alpha Omega Coachphil.
- wrestled in HS. (wrestling claim to fame: Sam Henson was my roommate in college and went on to coach my nephew at the same college)
- In the real world, I’m the account executive for an HVAC financing company

Sadly, this is a trait passed on to my kids, who both think they have the same rights that I do, however, they are both only 1/4 pounders and therefore cannot have the same liberties as I do because their father married a black woman and half of me does not approve

- I’m a gun freak…. It’s bad. Like really bad. Put it like this, whether it’s a civil war or Zombie Apocalypse, I’m ready to both.
- I’ve always wondered if part of my white-half once owned part of my black-half. (I know, I’m a sicko)
- Harley Street Glide

I hope multiple people have been offended by this. And those that aren’t offended should be ashamed of yourselves for laughing.
The race-baiting and wondering if your white self once owned your black half. That cracks me up. But history shows it could be your black half could have actually owned your black half as well. Can't assume anything there Double Stuff.

I'm Huck from the original cessool (can't figure out how to change it-tried many times).
Mom threw me in the YMCA wrestling program in Keokuk in Kindergarten, moved to Hannibal, MO in 5th grade.
3 medals and one championship (choked as a Jr.). Wrestled for Missouri Valley, started most of freshman year and then during my redshirt sophomore year got deathly ill and hung it up.
Taught & coached wrestling and football for about 25 years in Missouri before moving to the "dark side" and going into administration my last 5 years.
Retired two years ago and moved to Southwest Florida because my wife (pic given on the last board) and I love the beach and golf. I now work at a golf coarse and I've found it to be a pretty good gig.
3 boys, 1 girl, no grandkids yet (which I'm not complaining).
One son wrestled and was pretty good but gave it up going into 8th grade because all his buddies played roundball. Loved hearing people cheering for a kid named Gable Hawk at a basketball game...lol
Closing in on 30 NCAA's but missed the last two, planning to start again next season in STL. Love going to NCAA's and seeing/meeting all the former/current Hawkeye greats at the socials and around town.
Although I "hate" PSU, OSU, tOSU, etc, I love the sport and respect anyone that even makes it through a season, even at the high school level. I think the "wrestling community" is second to none and is such a special group. I've met so many great fans from other schools and being able to just sit and talk wrestling over a good beverage with them.
Miss coaching the sport for sure.
Drive a Tacoma, have two dogs and a pig.

Also AOphil was a multiple time champ in Missouri and was a super stud, probably has one of the most epic state title program pictures ever seen...you can really see the happiness radiating from his eye(s).

Lifelong resident of Pennsylvania and graduate of PSU. Followed Spencer to this board and have hung around ever since. Over that time, I have learned much about the tradition of Iowa wrestling and now root for the Hawks.

Graduated from UNI (psychology and exercise science degrees), did programs at LSU and Hawaii, and then got my Master's at Long Beach State (kinesiology with an emphasis in sport and exercise psychology).

I played rugby in college at Long Beach. We won conference and made it to D1 nationals every year, but never could win the title. After, I played in men's league (the team won the D1 national title last year, the year after I fully quit playing, go figure). I was fortunate enough to travel and play in Australia, England, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, and Hungary.

Alright, I’ll play. Yes, I’m a cop, 28 years of LA County Law Enforcement.

I started wrestling in Jr. High and my HS coach wrestled collegiately at Cal State Fullerton. Iowa was dominating at the time (early 90’s) and my coach told us a lot of Gable-isms to motivate us. One in particular was “You can’t control how naturally athletic you are, or how big you are, but you can control how much you want to win and how hard you’re willing to work for it.” Those words helped motivate 14 year-old me and I’ve been a Hawk fan ever since.
Props to you for being an LA county cop. Respect.

As a Long Beach guy, CSU Fullerton disgusts me but your coach used Gable-isms, and I can appreciate that.

So old I stowed away on the Ark. (I hope this doesn't damage anyone's theology). Direct descendant of Cain.
3rd string end of bench HS basketball Center. Too skinny (at that time) to be an enforcer. My hero was Reggie Harding, the late Pistons Center.
Had a kid that wrestled in college and one in college track.
Have a grandmonster wrestling in HS in Minnesota.
Have a great-grandmonster in every youth sport available in NW Iowa.
There is nothing on this planet better tasting than smoked carp.

very average varsity wrestler in NJ 9th-12th grade and continued for a bit of at the college club level. wish i started a lot sooner! grew up watching iowa dominate their opponents on youtube and always tried to emulate that style. wandered around a bit with my life before finally deciding to apply to medical school. ill be finishing residency soon and attribute a lot of what i've accomplished to this sport.

Son of a coach. So, began wrestling at a young age. First with older sisters and then my brother who is two years older. Went the the state tournament yearly when it was held at The Barn, again beginning at a very young age. It was considered our “family vacation”. Never been since it was moved and not a priority to do so…Any/all wrestling on IPTV was viewed as a family affair. Wrestled in Vets as soph & senior, losing to two future Hawkeyes as a senior. In addition to wrestling, played football & baseball throughout HS in the now defunct Lakes Conference & ran track senior year. No college wrestling (HEW) for me but played one year of JUCO football, finding out quickly being an undersized CB has “limitations” and size/athleticism matters in JUCO football. Loved football & baseball. Liked wrestling but seemingly did so, because it was expected of me.

Grew up hunting/fishing in NW Iowa but live in Burlington now. Dad bought me a BPS 12 ga. at Kautzky’s in FtD in lieu of a class ring. Hunted turkeys when living in KS but only one season since moving back to Iowa. I now find myself more passionate about fishing. I’m in my 2nd season owning a cabin on Spirit Lake and just finished cleaning a limit of walleyes tonight, after a long day catching smallmouth. I fish daily but just being at the lake is enough.

Someone mentioned Thumper Thorson. He was a friend of my Dad & uncle and I remember him presenting me with medal/bracket at FD kids tourney. I also remember going with Dad to visit Sherwyn at his home in FD. Dad always said Thumper had a saying…If I’m remembering it right…“10,000 Swedes running through the weeds, chased by one Norwegian”…

Cool Hand Luke was a favorite movie and my nickname in HS was Bones…
I own multiple heavy Brownings but my gun of choice for pheasants is a Benelli Legacy 20 ga due to weight. I’m 60.
I use a Super Black Eagle 12 ga for turkey. Enough from me…

61, no wrestling experience. Mom thought she was a gypsy, traveling from town to town to town between IA, NE, WY, MT, and SD, meeting new men, having another child, and then moving on. She ended up with nine different husbands - all living off the welfare money she received for the six children she had from six different husbands - all before I left home at 16. Fortunately a HS friend's parents allowed me to live with them my last year and a half of HS, after which I immediately joined the Army and never looked back at my childhood years or my mom and her many husbands. Fell in love with Hawks' wrestling in HS and tried my best to follow them throughout my 24-year Army career. Undergrad degree from Arizona State, grad degree from Jacksonville State, and moved to Nashville with my beautiful bride of 21 years after retiring from the Army 18 years ago. Despite leaving Iowa in 82 I've stayed loyal to my Hawks. Contribute monthly to the HWC regardless of how frustrated I get when we get beat by Nebraska and Iowa State, or get our a$$es slobber-knocked all over the f'ing planet by PSU, and am hoping we eventually work our way back to the top. Finally, I'm always the first to admit that I don't know much about anything related to Iowa wrestling aside from what I read in these forums or via Flo, InterMat, etc. Go Hawks!!

I'm 56, going to be 57 on Flag Day. born and raised in NW Iowa watching wrestling on IPTV. started wrestling in 3rd grade very small but only sport i cold compete with someone near my same size. I didn't make varsity until my junior year when i finally weighed 98 lbs. took 3rd in the state my junior yr 98lbs, senior year 105. same grade as Terry and Tom and wrestled several times from lids to high school, NEVER close. 4 year starter at SDSU(87-91) and supporter to this day. wrestled at the UNI open my true freshman year and Terry was in my bracket. i got beat by Bobby Crawford from Missouri in the quarterfinals 11-0 and he went on to beat Terry badly in the finals. not gonna lie it made me feel good seeing him get very frustrated. my toughest wrestling opponents in high school, TNT. in college, Jason Kelber and Ed Geise

served in the US army after getting my MD. married 32 years, wife was a basketball player in college. have 3 children. daughter with PhD and has my grandaughter with another on the way. second daughter just got her DPT. son in college, very different than the rest of us in discipline. took 5th, 5th and 8th at state in HS but WAY more physical talent than me but not the love for the sport that i have to put in anytime in the offseason.

was an assistant coach at a high school in Wisconsin for 13 years and my final year there in 2015 had a state champ at 220 who was also the top football recruit coming out the state that year. he went on to play for the Badgers and now in the NFL. awesome young man and story. he was sidelined for year after an ACL tear and wrote a book called The 7 Crucibles during that time. short read but gives a shout out to wrestling. i feel so blessed with the people i have come across with this sport and continue to support it in any way possible.

My grandpa joined the Navy when he was 17 and was a radio man in the South Pacific. After V-J Day and some partying, he came home to Iowa. His first purchase was a brand new Browning A5 12 gauge, he grew up very poor, so that was a big deal. He passed in 2001 when I was 12 and I inherited the A5. I've shot a few roosters with it but now it hangs on my wall.

Wrestled my whole life. IA state champion, and wrestled D1 where I was a top 20 guy and wrestled at NCAA tournament a couple of times. Am currently an assistant club coach.

Crablegs is an homage to my wrestling style which was strong on top with leg riding and crab ride series.

I’m a Cyclone season ticket holder, but just a huge wrestling fan in general. Love going to Carver for big events. One of my favorite meets was Iowa vs OSU when Ramos beat Oliver. Of course I was also at the meet at Kinnick which was such a cool event.

ILCC, only the 85 season which was my sophomore year. Coaches talked me into spring ball and felt great being back on the field and with guys I’d competed against in HS. Played mostly special teams but did have 1 INT. Iowa Central beat us in FD.

I grew up in Denver Ia and got talked into wrestling my senior year because they needed a weight filled. Had the pleasure of being rag dolled multiple times by Tolly Thompson and Justin Greenlee. Did wreck a former high placer at state by pinning him in the first round of sections then losing my next match (luck). Oldest boy was a MN state champ and state placer, went on to wrestle in college but was a tweener weight wise (197/HWT) and shoulder injuries did him in. Youngest boy was way more talented but preferred hunting and dirt bikes so that ended that. My wife (no pics) and I are “retired” aka sold our farm and now work with Samaritan’s Purse doing disaster relief around the world. Kids and their spouses all live near each other in northern Wisconsin and are doing a great job of popping out grandbabies for us to visit when we are around. We technically are homeless but live in a camper van when not out with Samaritan’s Purse. Love Hawkeye wrestling and hoping for a return to greatness.
I have a retired friend from Chicago suburbs who is involved with Samaritan's Purse as well. You folks do great things for people in need. Thank You for being a part of it.
