We had a governing body and rules…

Everyone whined about it and skirted when and where they could.

Paying players and mobility aren’t the issue. The messy windows for recruiting and general schedule of how things flow is the issue.

Agree with coaching turnover. Have always thought there should be a rule that a coach cannot be fired nor leave for greener pastures before season’s end. That kind of ties into schedule and flow.

Everyone needs to get together and figure out a better timeline. All hirings/firings need to be done in a 2-3 week period after playoffs. Then all recruiting, signing, portaging, mind changing needs to be done after that.

We don’t need staff turnover or recruiting/signing/decomitting/transferring during the season.

The season itself needs to be tweaked as well. Don’t need big gap between regular and post. Probably need to start a bit earlier wrap everything up earlier.

Yep the NCAA grew out of control but that was only because its members (the schools) constantly tried to skirt the rules at every turn and thats why we ended up with a 50,000 page rule book of insane rules. The NCAA was just trying to do what everybody wanted which was try to keep college sports about COLLEGE sports. It was inevitable that it couldnt last that way cause the money always destroys that.

But in a world where it is all about the money and the courts will never allow it to go back to pure COLLEGE athletics, you have to do the best you can with what you have and this isnt a bad start to somewhat manage the new Semi Pro leagues we have from here on out. And I like your thoughts on it especially on the coaches. They were always really the only ones gettin rich off the system (no the NCAA didnt they gave it to the schools and the schools spent every penny back in facilities, benefits for the players and coaches), so its time for the coaches to give back now.
